What was the point o letting jenkins go if we were going to end up trading trumaine for a 2nd round pick...next year? Thats crazy to me.

No...but the fact that it is even a rumor seems crazy to me.

I don't think anything is official yet, but with Trumaine in Miami all weekend you have to speculate he went for a reason.

I'd like to get Landry + this year's 3rd if we could. But if all we can get is a 2018 2nd, we can still use that to trade around in this year's draft to move up into the 3rd and grab a guy we covet. or late into the first (our 2nd + next year's 2nd).

Definitely want the cap relief to grab a C and some defensive players.

We have a new staff, and they don't feel Tru fit the scheme. That would be the reason why he's traded.

I think he fits the scheme to a T.. man to man coverage..
That's where he's best at.. Its just the $$$$ doesn't add up..

Which in fine with.. He's also somewhat prone to injury..
And we can still fill out the roster with that 16 mil tag..

I'm good with trading..

You do realize that if no long term deal is negotiated this year he is a unrestricted free agent and we get nothing for him. Not to mention if he plays out his franchise tag he is one of the top paid corners if not the top paid corner in the League and definitely is not one of the top three in the league. With the Savings and this deep of a defensive back class I would completely jump at a 2nd round pick for him

The Rams may not agree. Rumor is that they see him as more of a zone CB.

And what reason has there been for not getting a deal done? I havent seen one. We go from having a great cb core to possibly a 3rd and 2nd round pick? Thats insane.

I would suspect making this type of trade is fairly difficult. A team is definitely not going to give us much of anything in return unless they have the parameters of a long term deal in place with Tru prior to accepting a trade. For all we know, Miami could be doing that now with him and, once they have something worked out, the trade will be completed.

I look at it like this, if we trade Tru for as much as a 2nd round pick (I'm skeptical we will get that) we could draft someone in the likes of: J.Lewis, Conley, King, Wilson, Awuzie, Tankersley, Jackson, ect. & save a huge amount of cap space. Cap space we need to resign a guy like Donald.

A poster on a Rams forum who has proven to be reliable in the past posted that the Rams and Dolphins are close to a Trumaine Johnson trade. He said that the Dolphins are offering a 2018 2nd and a late round pick right now, but the Rams are trying to hold out for a 2017 2nd. Sounds like we might give in soon and pull the trigger.

lol. that came from neal driscoll who is a complete hack.
now i have to go to rod to see who the user was.

They didn't have the foresight to see Tru demanding the exact same amount of money that Janoris got - and/or the foresight to see the kind of money that Janoris ended up getting offered by the Giants.

You can't act like they were able to operate with 20/20 hindsight.

It was a gaff, but it's wrong to act like this was their plan all along.

I'm not one that's necessarily feeling the pressure to trade him right now. There are teams out there with just as bad of CB situations as us right now; the Jets for instance. Free agency has largely plateaued and there really aren't a ton of guys I'm rushing to sign that I think aren't going to bide their time until closer to or after the draft to try to get themselves better deals (e.g. Connor Barwin, D'Qwell Jackson), and I firmly believe the club is probably going to leave themselves some cap flexibility to try to float some of the bonus money cap-hit from a Donald extension back.

As it stands now, I'll be surprised if we trade him.

Yeah, I tend to agree. I don't like piling huge amounts of money (even for one year) into Tru on a team that was so porous on offense.
