Hey guys, I will be GMing the Chargers in the TCMD this year. I am going to try and keep y'all updated on what's happening. Feel free to offer any feedback on where you think the roster should go or who we should draft where. I will try to take it into account, but no promises that I'll act on it.
Also, feel free to tell me that I am doing a terrible job if you think I am doing a terrible job.
The only thing I ask is that you don't trash players who are on the team in here (at least until I cut them).
Here are the moves I've made so far:
Sign ERFAs:
0034 - Adrian Phillips - S
0091 - Andre Williams - RB
0151 - Asante Cleveland - TE
0896 - Geremy Davis - WR
0948 - Isaiah Burse - WR
1061 - Javontee Herndon - WR
1982 - Sean McGrath - TE
Tender RFAs:
0224 - Branden Oliver - RB - ROFR (No Comp)
0768 - Dontrelle Inman - WR - Second Round ROFR
1372 - Kenny Wiggins - LG - ROFR (No Comp)
1408 - Korey Toomer - 34OLB - Second Round ROFR
Non-Tender RFAs:
1092 - Jeremy Butler - WR
2110 - Tenny Palepoi - 34DE
I'm also not going to franchise Melvin Ingram. I don't think he's worth the franchise tag tender when you consider his likely role in Gus Bradley's scheme (SLB). _________________

They're not doing the FFMD this year. Mike decided to do another round of the TCM. _________________

Just made a trade:
jrry32 wrote: | The Raiders and Chargers have agreed to a trade.(and no, we aren't trading cities)
Raiders trade
1116 - Jihad Ward - 43DE
Chargers trade
0739 - DJ Fluker - RG |
Plan is for Ward to be a rotational DE behind Bosa and UT behind Liuget. Slauson will step in for Fluker at RG with Tuerk slotted as the starting Center. I plan to add OL depth behind them. _________________

Bad Trade. We already have OL Needs, don't make it worse. Sign Whitworth. |

Fluker should be cut. So I wonder how it can be a bad trade !!!
I would be more in favor in keeping him at a lower rate, but in this game , he will be expensive (some players will only view him as a 1st round pick). |

I made another trade.

Allen will slot in as the #2 TE behind Henry. Unfortunately, it means that Gates will be cut. That'll save us close to $5 million in cap. Dealing Flowers saves us about $2 million in cap. _________________

Whitworth is 35 years old. Why sign him? Shouldn't we be aiming for someone younger? _________________

I like both of the trades. Both guys are borderline cuts and have had injury issues along with a bunch of other stuff going on (including Fluker's 9m cap hit and Flower's 11m cap hit). I don't really know how the cap stuff works, do they take the SB cap hit too? That'd help out to have the extra 4m saved from Flowers contract than if we had cut him. _________________

Results from Round 1 of FA are in. We lost out on Nick Fairley but signed Mario Addison to platoon with Jerry Attaochu at LEO and Brandon Carr to replace Brandon Flowers at CB.
Carr is on a 2-year $12 million deal, so I plan to draft a rookie to develop behind him. We got Addison at $6.5 million per year. I think he's very comparable to Chris Clemons before Seattle. Perfect fit for the LEO position.
Any recommendations for next round? Duffman had a few guys that I'll be looking into. Will also have to sign some OL depth at some point.

Nah, we have to eat that unfortunately. _________________

I went after Cordarrelle Patterson, Dontari Poe, T.J. McDonald, and Tourek Williams this round. Went 0 for 3 on the outside FAs.
However, we are about to nab Garry Gilliam off waivers. He'll be stepping in as a swing OT and can compete with Barksdale at RT. _________________

Good news. We nabbed OT Garry Gilliam off waivers. He'll be our swing OT and compete with Barksdale for the starting LT job. We also nabbed three players in FA. We signed SS Barry Church to play the Kam Chancellor role, we signed OG/C Tim Lelito to offer interior OL depth, and we re-sign SS Darrell Stuckey to provide depth at safety and contribute on special teams. _________________
