You can call it "shady" but Albert is going to make less money if he's cut as opposed to being traded, so I'm sure he probably doesn't mind not being cut yet.

If he's traded, he doesnt get to choose his destination, and wouldn't be guaranteed a job come September. It is still most likely that Albert gets cut post March 9th, when the new league year starts and the market is flooded with impending FA's, severely undercutting his value when he could have the market to himself, now.

It is also no guarantee he makes less if he was cut today. Getting cut post March 9th does though.
I'd rather not have a choice in where I play and make 9 million than choose where I play and maybe make like 4 million. He isn't going to get a contract close to what he has now if he's cut.

Per Armando Salguero and the Miami Herald, one interested team has been identified: the Jacksonville Jaguars. The trade could potentially involve TE Julius Thomas.

I don't understand why a rebuilding team would want an injury prone OT in his thirties

Correct.

I can see a House for Albert swap.

Did you not hear TC's intro presser?

Think it's pretty obvious there is no more "just get better" attitude in this organization and their trying to win immediately. Doesn't mean we will, but there's no doubt this team will be active for immediate help and not just plug holes with developmental players.

Because
A. This year's free agent class is weak at left tackle
B. This year's draft class is weak at left tackle
C. The Jaguars think they can contend.
D. The Jaguars think OL is one of their biggest weaknesses and there aren't any worth the fourth pick, any in the second round who can start at left tackle day one or any decent free agent left tackles who would voluntarily play for the Jaguars.
E. All of the above

I'm fine with it. JT has been a disappointment and we need an OT and hopefully Albert can play for more than 6 games

A, B and D don't justify making bad business decisions. If they can afford it and he is willing to accept a one year deal, that's the only way it would make sense.

Lol at C. Maybe for a playoff spot but they're not beating the Pats, Steelers, and AFC West to get to the Super Bowl.

#Dolphins and #Jaguars are finalizing Julius Thomas for Branden Albert deal. Source says "when, not if" on trade.

If that's all there is to it, Dolphins win that trade for sure

Julius Thomas sucks.

Slow, fat, lazy, useless in the run game and can't stay healthy.

With Albert at LT, Cann probably at LG and Linder at C, the Jags should still sign/Draft a RG and RT this off-season. Coughlin gonna do his best to give Blake the best opportunity to succeed. Gotta protect him.

Yeah, I mean it was quite glaring watching Julius since he came here, especially this past year, that he isn't close to what he was in Denver. The dude looks much older than 29 the way he runs around. So slow and can't break tackles to save his life.

I don't think the way we used him this year was smart, but from what I hear regarding Albert it isn't so much about talent but injuries. Sounds like when healthy, he plays well. I can't say Julius has even done that...

Sure, he'll be a solid target for Tannehill and maybe Gase can light a spark under him (doubt it, but hey), still don't see how this doesn't make perfect sense for both teams if MIA wanted to let go of Albert. Would rather take the OL who is good when healthy and draft a better, younger TE in a class with a lot of options. Would rather grab a LT who can be a stop gap for a year or two and bring in a young OT in the draft that can learn behind him and come in for the few games Albert is out.

Don't forget a LT to start the games Albert can't
