Last minute trade likely.

They can't make a trade until the new league year, which is March 9th.

This is shady business by the phins. Reportedly Albert and Miami agreed to the release this morning but now they are backing out because they think they can squeeze value out of him 2 weeks from now?

It's actually pronounced, business.

The actions of the many do not justify the actions of the few. If someone tells me one thing and turns around and does the opposite that is unscrupulous.

Vikings should just sign both Albert and Clady. Then they will have a full 16 games covered.

It's not like you know what happened behind closed doors?

For all you know the Dolphins only told Albert he wasn't in their plans for the 2017 season. Which is true either way....

Although the team had made a decision to release the 32-year-old veteran, spoke to him Thursday morning to break the news, and Albert told his agents he was out, the plans changed sometime Thursday afternoon.

You can call it "shady" but Albert is going to make less money if he's cut as opposed to being traded, so I'm sure he probably doesn't mind not being cut yet.

If he's traded, he doesnt get to choose his destination, and wouldn't be guaranteed a job come September. It is still most likely that Albert gets cut post March 9th, when the new league year starts and the market is flooded with impending FA's, severely undercutting his value when he could have the market to himself, now.

It is also no guarantee he makes less if he was cut today. Getting cut post March 9th does though.

The Dolphins outsmarted themselves by almost releasing him, more or less killing his trade value since the team that might want to trade for him knows he'll be released.

While that definitely lowers his value, a team will probably still trade for him to avoid the risk of him signing somewhere else instead.

I thought teams/players discussing trades or even deals with soon to be FA's was a big No-Go until a certain date?

To bad he can't stay healthy. He's a talented player and would be a good fit for any team.

I don't know if Minnesota would make that trade. Spielman is already down 2 picks and he likes to stockpile.

I thought FF filters the word "shady" when posted by Patriots fans?
