1(3) Marshon Lattimore

So a rookie at corner with Porter/Fuller? That doesnt sound like a good combination.

The Bears can not miss out on the top corners in the free agent market. It cant happen.

Unfortunately, landing top level FA is a guarantee in these types of MOCK drafts.

Round 1 of FA Chicago missed on Stephon Gilmore
6 year $91M with $30M signing bonus was topped by Jacksonville

Round 2 of FA Chicago missed on Logan Ryan
6 year $92M with $35M signing bonus was topped by New Orleans

Well I mean come on...I dont blame you for missing on Gilmore but that Kirkpatrick contract offer was bad. The amount of money these guys got doesnt make sense in reality but corner is the #1 absolutely must fill with a star. We need a playmaker there. The two guys you have starting are coming off injury and are often injured. With practically no depth behind them.

Safety signings are very good. But you guys definitely need to hit the trade market for a corner. Just have to be careful with giving away more picks. That's my take. Interested to see what you guys do next.

The Bears could very easily miss on the top CBs.

There is only 4 guys on the market and a number of teams with need and money.

Lattimore is a stud and I would be okay with Porter, Fuller and Hall battling for the #2 spot.

After missing out on 2 top tier CB and another in the next tier, we are exploring trade options.

Certainly have secured upgrades and depth and safety. Have also tried to add players at CB to allow as many players to compete for roster spots.

Still holes to fill, but with 3 FA bids per round + 1 resign FA bid, it is hard to fill all the holes right away.

Added QB
Added RT
Added 2 safeties
resigned OLB
Resigned OG

Added RFA at DL, ILB, OLB

Added from waivers WR, OC, CBx2 and Sx2

Remaining needs in no particular order
CB
LT
RB
K
QB
DL
TE

NE gets

Round: 2nd Pick: 4 Overall: 36

Chicago gets
1119 - Jimmy Garoppolo - QB
Round: 3rd Pick: 32 Overall: 96

Tough to give up a DL player, but getting the young QB and still having the 3rd overall pick was worth it.

Feel free to post your thoughts on this!!!

I dont like the trade. In general, NE wants too much for Garoppolo, and there is a team that will overpay for him. I hope it isnt us.

Secondly, Bullard was a rookie. He had bad plays. He had a few good ones. He may get better, or what we saw last year is what we have in him. We'd be giving up on him too early in his career.

I said in another thread, if we gave up one of our 4ths for Garoppolo, I'd be good with that. If we do the Cutler trade all over again, I'd be mad. I personally would rather draft a guy in the 1st or 2nd round.

How is this even close to the Cutler trade.

We are giving up a 2nd and getting a 3rd.

Bullard was horrendous last season. Late in the season he was benched with good reason. I know he can get better, but I am not too worried about a 3rd round DE that struggled.

I'm talking in general about trading for Garoppolo. We gave up a lot for Cutler and if we trade for Garoppolo, I fear the same, we'd give up way too much. IMO our 2nd for Garoppolo isnt worth it. I'd rather just draft a QB, especially with all our needs. But thats just me.

Bullard was a rookie, some guys are solid right away, others need time. Maybe bullard improves this upcoming year, maybe he's not good at all.

round 3 of FA

1751 - Nolan Carroll – CB
3 years $9.575M with $4.4M signing bonus
2017 cap number $2.741M
2018 cap number $3.166M

0651 - DeAngelo Williams – RB
1 year $2.050M with $750K signing/roster bonus
2017 cap number $2.050M

1038 - Jared Odrick - 43DT
2 year $10.2M with $4M signing bonus
2017 cap number $4.7M
2018 cap number $5.5M

1179 - Johnthan Banks – CB
1 year $690K with $0 guaranteed
2017 cap number $690K

Happy to add a veteran quality RB to reduce the workload that Jordan Howard might see, also serves as a very nice 3rd down RB. Like the concept of veteran presence to show the young ones how to be a pro. Has played well in the back up role in PIT.

DL depth with Jared Odrick.

Nolan Carroll and Johnthan Banks add to the competition we are trying to create at the CB spot.

Let us know your thoughts!!

Round 4 FA

Missed on Mike Tolbert
Missed on resigning Brian Hoyer

Landed Antonio Gates and Jermon Bushrod

Antonio Gates
1 year $6.771M with SB of $2.1M

Jermon Bushrod
1 year $1.64M with SB of $500K

Really happy to add a veteran quality TE in Gates for Jimmy G. Will still look for a young TE in the draft, but this give JG a nice security blanket to go along with a solid running game in Howard and D Williams.

Bushrod offers a backup option for Charles Leno at LT. Still will look for a developmental LT prospect in the draft.

Feel free to post your thoughts.

I like a Nolan Carroll

I don't care if you trade Amos.

Bushrod is odd, we already cut him because he is to injured to play LT.

The LT market was really thin to start and only got thinner after the first 3 rounds. We felt a need to have a body there a backup as Wagner is really a RT only and Massie is not much as an LT either.

The plan is to look for a developmental LT in the draft and likely move on from Bushrod, but this at least allows some level of security if the draft does not produce an LT.

FYI.....draft is slated to start March 7th.

CHI currently holds the 3rd pick. Will gladly take thoughts on prospects if anyone has them.

Trade down if you can.

At 3 I am looking Allen, Lattimore, Adams.
