DRAFT PICKS

Round: 1st Pick: 3 Overall: 3 | CHI |
4690 rSo Marshon Lattimore

HT: 6’0”
WT: 193#
Arm Length: 31Ό
Hand size: 8 7/8
40: 4.36
Vert: 38.5
Broad: 132”

Adds a potential shut down #1 CB to the secondary. Young player that can grow and continue to develop. Having Jefferson and McDougald at safety should help the lessen the inexperience Lattimore will have against NFL WR's

Round 2: Pick 55
Tyus Bowser OLB Houston

In a trade up, Chicago lands an Edge rusher to join 2016 1st round pick Leonard Floyd. Trade pick 67 and pick 115 to NYG. Tough to give up picks, but pass rushers are a premium and Bowser has been a very consistent one during his entire college career.
2016: 12 TFL and 8.5 sacks (missed 5 games with fractured orbital bone)
2015: 5.5 sacks and 50 tackles
2014: 3 sacks
2013: 4.5 sacks

Brings top level physical traits across the board and will be given time to develop in a rotation with Floyd, Willie Young, Pernell McPhee, Sam Acho and Jayrone Elliott

T: 6’2.5”
WT: 247#
Arm Length: 33Ό
Hand size: 10 1/8
40: 4.65
Bench: 21
Vert: 37.5
Broad: 127”
3-cone: 6.75
Short shuttle: 4.18

Round 3 Pick 102
Adam Shaheen - TE – Ashland

HT: 6’6”
WT: 278#
Arm Length: 33 1/2
Hand size: 9 5/8
40: 4.79
Bench: 24
Vert: 32.5
Broad: 121”
3 cone: 7.09
Short Shuttle: 4.38

Athletic TE that has a great opportunity to learn behind and HOF in Gates. Has the size, speed and movement ability to threaten the seam deep and a red zone target.

Round 4 Pick 109
Brad Kaaya - QB - Miami

HT: 6’4”
WT: 214#
Arm Length: 32
Hand size: 9 3/4

Developmental QB and insurance in the event that Garoppolo does not prove to be the QB we think he is. Not overly mobile, but played in a Pro system and can make all the necessary throws.

Round 4, 35 pick 140th overall
Ryan Glasgow - DT - Michigan

HT: 6’2”
WT: 302#
Arm Length: 33 3/8
Hand size: 9 5/8
40: 5.13
Vert: 27.5
Broad: 105”
3-cone: 7.55
Short Shuttle: 4.50”

Adds depth on the DL. Should be able to take snaps at NT and DE to spell Goldman and others. Hard working player with size and strength to hold the point against run. Shows good short area quickness and motor in pursuit of plays.

Round 5, 10th pick 155th overall
Josh Malone - WR - Tennessee

HT: 6’2”
WT: 208#
Arm Length: 31 3/8
Hand size: 9 5/8
40: 4.40
Vert: 30.5
Broad: 121”
3-cone: 7.05
Short Shuttle: 4.19

Junior WR bring size and speed to position. Set single season records for Tennessee in yards per catch and TD’s in 2016. Not yet 21 years old, and has a lot of growth ahead of him.

Round 5, 22nd pick, 167th overall
Shaquill Griffin - CB - UCF

HT: 6’0”
WT: 194#
Arm Length: 32 3/8
Hand size: 8 3/4
40: 4.38
Vert: 38.5
Broad: 132”
3-cone: 6.87
Short shuttle: 4.14

Fantastic athlete that really stood out at the NFL combine. Performed in the top 5 in the 40 and both vertical and broad jumps. Top 12 in 3-cone and short shuttle. Has good height and weight with long arms. Will need to show that he can play up to NFL level comptetition. Showed good ball skills and smooth movements in drills at combine.

Couple things to consider for now
1. players to franchise
2. players to put on trading block
3. players to cut
4. players to restructure
5. ERFA and RFA

Overall game plan for FA and draft...needs and places requiring upgrades. Having the 3rd overall pick means that 1 need should be able to be filled there, but I do not see a QB as worthy of the #3 overall pick.

I am hoping to fill a QB in FA and then take a later round QB that might hit (aka Russell Wilson or Dak Prescott).

Please post your thoughts or ideas for this GM mock.

Tag: Jeffery

Trade Block/Cut

Jay Cutler
Lamaar Houston
Eddie Royal

If not takers jettison all of them.

Free Agent Priorities

1. CB
1. S
3. DL
4. OT
5. WR/TE Depth

Draft

We are desperate for QB so either Jimmy G or one of the top guys somehow some way.

Jay Cutler cannot under any circumstance be on the team. The bridges are burnt.

Wish we could be more help, but this is as apathetic and pissed off as this place has ever been.

Good luck to you.

NE gets
1190 - Jonathan Bullard - 34DE
Round: 2nd Pick: 4 Overall: 36

Chicago gets
1119 - Jimmy Garoppolo - QB
Round: 3rd Pick: 32 Overall: 96

Tough to give up a DL player, but getting the young QB and still having the 3rd overall pick was worth it.

Feel free to post your thoughts on this!!!

Our depth last year at DE was basically crap. I would be pretty unhappy if we made that trade in real life.

Fine you give up the 2nd that's good. But this team cant be pulling young pieces off the roster for trade just yet.

Personally I love the trade, especially considering that you get a 3rd round pick back in exchange.

Bullard did little to show anything last season and can be pretty easily replaced.

To get Garoppolo I would do this in a second and then use our cap room to sign his replacement or draft it at 3[96].

Great move.

Yeah I'm with you on that. Sure Bullard has promise but he didn't show much and this team will probably be replacing him with pick 3 if they do pull off that trade.

I'm not 100% sold on Garoppolo, but I'll take that value for him.

That was my reservation in creating a hole while filling another.

BUT in my eyes, the QB vacancy trumps the DE/DL vacancy.

Pick 3 allows CHI to then go with a better player at the top vs reaching for a QB just to do so.

Allen
Thomas
Hooker
Adams

All are options at 3

Feel Garoppolo is better than any of the Rookie class QB's. Having 3 years in an NFL system means if he cant come in and start and perform well, then you move on from him in 2018.

Drafting a QB at 3, you need to give him 2-3 years to know if he has it or not. Either way it is a gamble, but I felt JG was better and it would be easier to move on from him after 1 year vs feeling the need to give a rookie more time to pass or fail.

I know the Chicago fanbase is very down right now, but I would welcome more input and feedback on potential transactions.

FYI...I am one of those GB fans running this GM mock for the Bears.

Feels quite dirty, but someone had to do it Wink

Very solid move.

Next steps

-Sign at least 1 tier 1 secondary player [Jefferson, Bouye, Johnson, Gilmore]

-Try and sign a tier 2 guy [Cyprien, Logan Ryan, Mo Claiborne]

-We need depth at TE, OT, DE if you can get nice values there it would be good.

But we must land a tier 1 secondary player in FA.
