Irving for me. Basically a very good DE stands out mote than a very good anything else. (besides QB)

For me, it's Collins by a sizable margin. Irving looked unstoppable for about 3 qtrs. Collins was more consistent.

I went with Collins.

David Irving is to much of a tweener maybe to be a superstar. He is really to big to play DE if we are being honest, and to long to play inside. Sure he flashes dominance on passing downs, but then is washed away. He is a role player. Anthony Brown is talented but he plays CB. CBs don't get respected as superstars as easily other positions(unless they are college stars) because if you are a good CB, you don't have many plays go to your side. You typically have to have years of solid consistent play before a CB is accepted as a superstar. Look at Slay or Verrett or Rhodes. Unless you have a year like Marcus Peters, quietly being a good cover man makes becoming a superstar CB a long process. Byron Jones is going into his 3rd year, and I think we know what he is. He is a great cover man, an athletic deep cover safety that's excellent at deflecting passes. He is at his best when matched up against athletic TE's, who are typically a mismatch for DBs. But he has little to no ball skills. He has 1 pick in two years, and I've seen him drop a couple. He also isn't a big hitter. He kinda just wrangles the ball carrier down, when he does make a tackle. I don't really see a star in him, but just a solid contributor.

Now David Irving, Byron Jones, and Anthony Brown are all, imo, very good players with great potential. But with a gun to my head I'm going Maleik Collins. He is a pure inside DL. He led ALL rookie DT's in sacks this year, and was 7th among ALL DT's in the NFL in sacks. Like mentioned before, it typically takes a year for DL to make an impact. Very rarely do rookie pass rushers make a strong impact for their team. This was exacerbated by Collins not being in training camp, and not playing in preseason. Yet by week 3 he was a starter, and by week 17 he was in the top 10 for most sacks among all NFL DTs. The guy is going to be a stud. I can't wait to see what his first full off season will do for his game.

2016 sacks by DTs

#1. Geno Atkins (9)
#2. Aaron Donald (8 )
#3. Gerald McCoy (7)
#4. Fletcher Cox (6.5)
#4. Nick Fairly (6.5)
#4. Malik Jackson (6.5)
#6. Kawaan Short (6)
#7. Maliek Collins (5)
#7. Ndamukong Suh (5)

Is there anyone on this list that isn't a super star? Collins is well on his way. Everyone on this list got penciled in as starters from the beginning, but Collins made the list without starting until week 3, and as a rookie. Collins for the win.

I went with Irving. By definition, a superstar is somebody who takes over games. Irving has taken over games as an unstoppable force. Granted, it hasn't happened consistently but happened down the stretch of the season.

I picked Collins only because you didn't add Jaylon Smith to the poll. Rolling Eyes

Some very good players on this list, but I don't expect any of them to be the NFL's next superstars.

Really doesn't make sense to me that this list doesn't have Jaylon Smith or La'el Collins. If the question is "who is the next superstar" those are the guys with that potential.

He was looking for players that have flashed at the NFL level. That eliminates Jaylon.

La'el didn't make the cut.
