Todd MCShay is a joke. He just released his way too early 2018 NFL Mock Draft. Whoevers formula he used to figure out the draft order has the Texans pick coming in at 4th overall. I mean maybe we take a step back, Watson struggles, we see how good the defensive players we let walk really were.

but worst case, I dont see anyway we arent at least 6-10, which would be better than 4th overall

Bullough got caught, will be suspended first four games for PEDs.

Not exactly the biggest deal, considering he was depth anyway and we just drafted Cunningham, but it's a thing that happened. *shrug*

Cole is 6'0, 240lbs with the best athleticism for off the ball LBs in this year's draft. At ILB, you have Cushing, McKinney, & (now) Cunningham. That 4th LB needs to be a ST demon. So yeah... Cole (who should excel at STs this year) made Bullough expendable.

Bullough is a fringe roster guy who just got popped for PEDs. Cole already had a chance to take his spot, and that chance just got a LOT better.

Bullough may have just enhanced his way out of the NFL.

i was just coming to post about this lol Watson got himself a nice 8 million dollar check today and will get about 1 million per year over the next 4 years and then will either be out of the league or will get a monster contract after that.

If Watson can get on the field sooner than later, it's going to give Rick Smith an opportunity to retain a few more of our 5th year draft picks than we ordinarily do. Most teams with "franchise QBs" are paying them in the neighborhood of $20 million annually, meanwhile Watson will be making 12th overall pick money for 5 years.

I think the way that we will, and should use those extra resources is to retain players whose rookie contracts will expire soon.

Barring All-Pro type play, Rick Smith's Texans have historically let players sign elsewhere following their rookie deals (Connor Barwin, Glover Quin, Brandon Brooks, AJ Bouye to name a few). Given the cap space we've created by getting rid of Brock, and making QB a highly cost efficient position for us between Watson/Savage, as well as the fact that we don't need to pay 1rst and 2nd round picks this year, I think we're going to try and get some contract extensions done with our own guys..

Hopkins
Clowney
Fiedorowicz
Sua'Filo

Also I'd like to add I wouldn't be surprised to see Savage traded. If he starts our first few games and plays well, inevitably somebody's QB will go down and they'll come calling, and Rick Smith loves moving QBs. Which would create even more cap space/ cost efficiency at the QB position (we could probably comfortably roll with Watson, Weeden alone at that spot).

No word on rookie camp (yet.... started today IIRC), but this snuck under radar

Quote:
Texans WR Keith Mumphery has been expelled and banned from Michigan State.
The punishment stems from a violation of the school's relationship violence and sexual misconduct policy after Mumphery allegedly sexually assaulted a female in her dorm room in 2015 just before Mumphery was drafted by Houston. The Texans are now "gathering information." A deep reserve and special teamer for the Texans, this could put Mumphery's job in a bit of hot water.

Mumph gone
