This is already so overblown. Laughing Trust fans to jump to conclusions. Aldon is an idiot, but in this situation he did not do anything that will get him suspended.

Anyone painting him as a victim regarding his actions on this one is in error. He's done, he was probably not getting reinstated with the incident a month ago but this seals it. He is not continually a victim of bad circumstance. The more incidents he has the more tight he has to be with future incidents. No wiggle room. And with the little wiggle room, he blew it repeatedly. I'm convinced even if he were close to reinstatement again, he'd blow it again.

Cut him. Not worth the headache and clearly is not committed to his sobriety. Glad he wasn't driving but that he was with someone who was, kinda shows where his decision-making ability is at.

We gave him a chance and Aldon chose drinking over football. Get help dude.
agreed, this won't get him in legal trouble, but I've seen enough.

i dont know for sure, but as someone said on the last page, his NFL agreement per the substance abuse policy probably precludes him from being able to drink, and now the public intoxication shows that he was, in fact, drinking

basically he had to stop drinking and not get himself into trouble, and he'd get reinstated. he's been unable to do either

Noone is jumping to conclusions. You are not accurately representing the position he is in. He cannot get suspended - he is already banned from the NFL for life with the possibility of reinstatement. That means he is out, looking in, and Goodell holds all the cards. Every mistake, however minor and even if it is not at all his fault, is a death knell for his career. He is walking the thinnest of lines. It's why he was not reinstated over the video, and why he's not going to be reinstated due to these current incidents.

It's not a good person / bad person problem. It's not a legal vs. illegal problem. This isn't the courts or parole system. I think maybe this is the paert most people just don't ever really get. Aldon Smith is expected to abide by the NFL conduct standards in order to keep playing in the NFL. Those conduct standards exist to protect the NFL's money stream and have nothing to do with morality or law. They have to do with (and I bet the NFL actually has caluclations and mathematics to quantify this, as insurance companies do with risk assessment) what the worth is in reinstating X player at a certain point vs. the loss of letting X player disappear from the league.

This is not a cop arresting him or a court or jury deciding on a case, it's not the law. This is a boss firing him.

What do you guys think they created the suspension system and it's standards based on? Throwing darts at a dartboard? It was likely built on a complex mathematical risk assessment put together by an analytics firm or something similar, a team of assessors and lawyers.

Regardless, Aldon Smith did in fact do something wrong - he broke the worst rule of this process - bad PR for his bosses. Rule #1. He's done. It's just absolutely guaranteed. Complete and utter silence on his part and not even a whisper of incident would have gotten him reinstated. Both incidents broke through that threshold. And this is the second time in months that he has had an incident right on the cusp of being reinstated..

When I thought nothing can top his bomb threat at the LAX Airport, Aldon Smith was involved in a car accident that crashed into a SF police car and injuring two police officers. Bravo Aldon. Bravo. You are truly, TRULY a special kind of stupid.

Not the worst incident but I really wouldn't be surprised if he's let go. After all the defending of him and standing by him when he checked himself into rehab after the alleged blunt video. Doesn't look like someone who is serious about their career anymore.

If you're going out drinking why not call a cab?

The guy is an idiot. He can only blame himself for his poor decisions.

Personally, I feel for him and I think the NFL has a broken system with suspended players

They suspend these players. Put them on an island where most come from rough backgrounds and the people that hang on them drag them down.

Suspended players should be allowed around the team so they can be supported. There is a mental health issue with many of these guys and they don't get the help they need.

Telling you. NFL teams should have someone on staff to support mental health. To help these kids deal with fame, money, stress it causes, etc. And these suspended players should be able to have the support of their teammates AND the mental help professional.

We laugh, say he's a "special kind of stupid", but really it's a person who needs help, daily and there is no weakness in that.
