‪Chiefs cut Jaye Howard. Redskins need to give him a look after the draft if they don't get a DL in round 1 or 2 if he's healthy.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/04/22/chiefs-cut-jaye-howard/ via @ProFootballTalk‬

Quote:
Howard played in eight games last year, starting four, before going on injured reserve with a hip injury. There’s been no recent word on the status of his hip, but the Chiefs may doubt he’ll be able to return to the form they got from him in 2015, when he played in all 16 games with 13 starts and 5.5 sacks.

‪Raiders release Dan Williams!

Redskins should sign him to be their base 3-4 NT, and short yardage NT. He wouldn't be used that much, maybe 1/3 of the game. They need someone his size in the middle to keep OL off of our ILBs in the run game.
Dude had 11 tackles in 15 games last season. After starting 11 games he was benched. I'd rather give a hungry rookie those reps.
True, me too. Wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a looksie though. Maybe Jimmy can get something out of him that the Raiders couldn't.

At this point, teams and Williams are waiting to see what happens post-draft/minicamps. Likely he'll get picked up early in training camp (provided he stays in shape). Whether it is here or not, I don't know
I agree, just another vet option, but I'm thinking Phil Taylor must be healthy - just like Hood was last year when they signed him - and that's why they didn't pay a lot to sign a 2 down NT type.

I think he'd be a good signing.

Steelers cut Zach Mettenberger. I would bring him into camp and take a look and see if he can claim a roster spot.

Eh, he couldn't cut it in Tennessee pre-Mariota. I mean we could sign him, but that feels like signing a guy to sign a guy.

Doesn't hurt to bring him in for competition though, but I agree that he wouldn't make the team. They'd probably even rather keep developing Sudfeld than to keep Mettennerger on their roster.

Well, I guess Steven Daniels isn't going to develop into a two down thumper and possible starter over Foster...

I agree, doesn't hurt to bring him in to compete for a back up spot or maybe he can even beat out Cravens for the starting safety spot next to Swearinger.

He's young (only going to be 25 next month) and still has potential to be a good starter, if not, he'd be great depth!

‪Jaye Howard leaves Chicago without a deal. Could the Redskins be interested?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/03/jaye-howard-leaves-chicago-without-a-deal/ via @ProFootballTalk‬

Quote:
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Howard passed his physical and received an offer from the Bears. However, he decided to take other visits for now, while still keeping the door open on possibly signing in Chicago.

The fact that Howard passed a physical is significant because the Chiefs released him with the “failed physical” designation. Which further confirms that there’s no magic to the outcome of a physical administered by one team’s doctors.

Where would he play? They're obviously dead-set on this ridiculous idea that Phil Taylor is going to stay healthy and that Lanier is some monster in waiting.

We'll probably only carry 6 Dlineman. Allen, McClain, and McGee aren't going anywhere. Then you have Ioannidis, Lanier and Ziggy Hood who are all likely to make the roster. Unless they're going to stick Lanier (who they've been praising all offseason) or Ioannidis on the PS I don't see how we can carry another Dlineman. Hood was solid last year, I think he makes it. All of the other guys we currently have are likely camp fodder.

I think its highly unlikely Phil Taylor makes the roster.
