Not surprising given the injury but still sucks. Hopefully he can carve himself a nice little career after a healthy recovery.

Given the fact he almost lost his leg though I don't know how realistic that is.

Terrible news. Upside to this is that he's still young. If I'm correct he'll only be 25 going into the 2018 season. Wish him the best.

Most likely there was some sort of setback with his original surgery, possibly an infection which required additional 'clean-up' surgery.

I saw an article where the doctor said the the earliest he ever seen an athlete recover from this injury was 19 months and March of 2018 was the original best case scenario for him to be able to return to participate in practices. So I doubt there have been any setbacks that were unexpected unless we start hearing he won't be ready in 2018.

Does anyone have a video of the injury?

Nope it happened in a closed practice.

They should look for his replacement in the draft.

Dislocated knee.

Most likely nothing to do with and infection or possibly not even a setback.
There was talks at the time of amputation of the knee if it wasn't for some of the Viking staff members knowing exactly what to do.
Pretty significant injury. Seen it happen in a wrestling match in high school, kid never did sports again. Something that just takes time to heal, most likely the doctors and Teddy don't want him to go through it again.
Patience is a virtue .

it was so gruesome, that many Viking teammates were vomiting on the field after witnessing it. and these are guys who deal with injuries to themselves and others on a regular basis through their careers.

regardless of its severity, and it WAS severe, the original report that he definitely will not play in 2017 has been debunked. the real report from the Vikings is they have no idea when he may play again. it might be in in 2017, it might not, but no one medically can state its timetable with any assurance.

Don't think I heard the vomiting part. Probably a good thing it wasn't caught on tape. Brutal. If Bridge ever comes back from this, it'll be insanely impressive. I don't know how anyone won't be pulling for the guy.

This'll pretty much ruin any chance of him developing into anything more than a game manager.

The Bradford trade is looking better by the minute even if the price was rather hefty.

If he is able to come back without any limitations then I don't see how this is true.

It's still a bad trade regardless.

He wouldn't have been able to practice on an NFL roster for 2 years. That makes it as hard as it gets at a position where you need all the reps.

I mean, what do you really expect for him going forward?

This is bad to hear for Bridgewater himself and I wish him the best in his recovery. The closest comparison I can think of to this injury is Robert Edwards, and he was lucky to come back and play in the NFL after his knee injury. I don't think Bridgewater's injury is quite as bad and he may still have a long term future as a quarterback, but what ends up happening with him is pretty much a toss up

That being said, a healthy Bridgewater is still a downgrade from Bradford. I don't see any reason to bring Bridgewater back to the Vikings in 2018, and I think they realized that as well when they made the trade for Bradford. You can't live and die on a noodle arm, just ask the Chiefs. Bradford proved more last season than Bridgewater ever did at any point in time prior to that

People are acting like he was the 2nd coming. He was not impressive when he did play.

People are only wishing him well and saying that he was starting to come into his own, which he was. I don't think that valuing him and his potential over Bradford necessarily means people thought he'd be a star. We just wanted to see how he would have developed and are hoping that he recovers.

Is there anything new or just more speech speculation?

In case, there worse options than having Bradford as the back up plan.
