ugh, don't start that again.

Who knows. Hopefully someday someone talks on the record and settles it.

Whatcha mean?

I'm just saying it likely had nothing to do with his production or his salary. Beyond that it's speculation. But his salary? No, as we released him at the tail end of training camp without imminent compensation (compensatory selections). Injury risk/availability? Definitely not, as he's proven to be able to work through injuries just as you'd expect from an OL. There are some things you just don't see from the outside and Sitton falls in that category.

From Pro Football Weekly

OLB Datone Jones: "Players who can affect the quarterback in different ways will always be at a premium. Jones, the former 26th overall pick, who turns 27 in July, has produced with a hand down and on his feet, tallying 24 QB hits from 2015-16 — No. 2 on Green Bay — following his move to outside 'backer. Jones has strength and athleticism, just not top pass-rush instincts to close the deal.

There's value in simply being disruptive, but it's certainly possible a team other than Green Bay, which could undergo a sea change on its edges this offseason, is convinced it can help Jones put it all together. "

Is there a number where he stays in GB or are they done with Datone ?

There was a number for Mike Neal and again for Nick Perry. So I think that there is a number.

If I were to guess, I'd say his number is above Neal's and below Perry's. Say 2.5 to 3.5 on a one year deal.

Datone suggests he'd like to stay in GB

“I’m not looking at it like I’m looking to go to another team,” Jones said “Because I really do want to be here.
I really want to be a part of this organization until I retire.
My family, my daughter was born here. Just little things."

I'm not a Datone fan, but I'd like him back on a reasonable one year deal. Or a little 2 year thing. 1 for 3 or 2 for 6. Something like that.

I don't want Datone Jones back. I'm hoping the Colts pull another Erik Walden and sign Datone to a big enough contract he nets us a compensatory pick. Only X amount of roster spots can go to pass rushers, and I'd rather have any rookie with any potential or somebody like Barwin take one of those spots over Datone.

I'd rather take that comp pick, too. But if he is going to be cheap...I'd rather he be cheap in Green Bay.

I'm a Jones guy. He was our second best OLB against the run and he did provide some good pressure despite not racking up sacks. I'd like to see him lose another 5-10lbs and back on a reasonable deal. I think there is still some serious upside in the guy.

I like Jones as well but I hate him standing up. He should be playing on pass downs with his hand in the dirt. He was very good inside with his hand down. I find him terrible on the outside standing get his hand down in the dirt. He can be very effective that way. Can't stop the run which was why we moved him outside I think it's a bad move. We should have been more patient with him inside and let him grow a bit.

Players who I think for sure have played their last game as a Packer:
Datone Jones
Jayrone Elliot
Mike Pennel
Sam Shields (shame)
James Starks
Carl Bradford

Players who I think likely have played their last game as a Packer:
Julius Peppers
JC Tretter
Joe Thomas

The roster fill ins are not listed - Brice, Dorleant, etc.

Carl Bradford has been on the 49ers for a few months. So.... Good call?

And Pennel's been released. Think he's a Jet.
Starks and Shields were cut.

Team would be kind of foolilsh not to bring back Elliot.

Right my list are players who were on the roster but I think have played their last games in a Packer uniform. I just looked at the listed roster on line. Yes some were cut but that wasn't the question now was it.

Word...

also, I'm hoping to see Kentrell Brice back. He played exceptionally well when asked and only made a few rookie mistakes. It'd be foolish not to bring him back either...
