Redskins to promote Greg Manusky to defensive coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet. This will be his fourth stint as a DC.

I wanted Pettine, but Manusky is a better option than Bradley and some of the other candidates we interviewed (like Rob Ryan Laughing ).

He was horrible for the Chargers.

Bland defense, while not promoting the right personnel... I really felt he was clueless here.

Not a big fan. He didn't impress in San Diego, for sure. And all I remember about his stint in San Francisco was that him leaving coincided with San Francisco's defense becoming elite. He seemed okay with Indy, but it's tough to tell how much of that was him and how much of that was having Pagano at the helm as well.

He's marginally better.

Can anyone explain why the Colts went from 11th and 10th in weighted defensive DVOA in 2014 and 2015, respectively, with Manusky, to 26th in 2016 without him?

Manusky actually is tho. I'm not even a 49ers, Chargers, or Colts fan. Also... why hire someone from the same staff that you just fired? He contributed to the last failure.

Gross. Such a mundane hire.

His stats suggest he's rather average with some good seasons and below average ones. He had a pretty damn good defense in San Fran. The Colts and Chargers haven't been known for having a stellar defense after his departure. And he coached under Barry one season and his unit was arguably the best on the entire defense. Not super stoked but we need more talent on defense anyways. And I really somehow doubt he's as horrible as people are claiming. 90% of teams fans want their coordinator replaced. Redskins fans were asking if we should bring McVay back and he is considered one of the best young minds in football lol

He had one year (out of four) in San Francisco where their defense wasn't average or worse.

After he left, the 49ers spent the next three seasons as a top 3 NFL defense under Vic Fangio.

His stats suggest that he's not particularly good at his job. He has 2 good seasons in 9 years as a coordinator. He has 3 inarguably bad seasons. And 4 seasons that are arguably average.

Nah. I think that's just some of them. Laughing
