burnoutonme, if you can get with the other staff members to delegate research responsibilities and share what you already have.

Per FFMD rules, a link to the google doc will need to be provided to CWood. Please email him that link.

We will need to have spreadsheets for the big board and free agency. With the codes, we an keep discussion open and on the forum.

also, if you can email me a copy to my work email in a xls format... google docs and personal email do not work with my security settings.

In case you've missed it, FFMD signups have opened. Like previous years, we're looking for people to act GMs for their favorites as well as media writers that will post about the draft. Unlike previous years, we're looking for non-mods to help run FFMD with regards to the Shark Tank. If you're interested in more details, find the thread linked below and read the details.

All - Please send me a PM with your gmail e-mail addresses and I will share our draft board with you all in a google doc.

I've done scouting on somewhere in the ballpark of 65 players, and it's all docced up. I'm taking part in another large-scale mock and I've been having to scout for that, so I'm obviously using the same knowledge and all. Once I have it uploaded, y'all feel free to make any edits (just don't delete stuff pl0x Smile)

Okay, so here are my thoughts on this doc;

1. The draft board (Master Prospect Sheet) was taken from a rankings site that I thought formatted the best with Excel. It's not my personal rankings, just a master list.
2. I added a sheet for round-by-round targets. If y'all think there's a better way of going about this, I'm all ears for changes. My idea behind this sheet is to act more as a list of players that we want to highlight as players we're interested in. A targeted list that will keep us from having to sift through the master prospect sheet to find players that interest us.
3. The big board is, obviously, the big board.

I'm open to changes, this was all kind of ad hoc to get the ball rolling.

Again, yeah, just send me your gmail e-mail in a PM and i'll provide you a link to the doc.

My thoughts on the 1st/2nd prospects considering where we sit... and I say "where we sit" because I believe movement will occur.

1st round players:
164 - Unlikely to be there when we pick and is not a fit for our scheme, IMO. I am almost tempted to strike him from our board.

156 - BPA at 8. I don't like him, and I know I will take flak for it, as much as 212.

160 - Hard pressed to say anything bad about the player and/or the way he plays. Must be in the conversation at 8 if he is there

168 - see above. In the same vein as 160.

172 - I would not be thrilled by this selection. Can't say he wouldn't help but just doesn't do it for me.

176 - He is my favorite. enough said.

180 - I fear the system's impact. This position, generally, is one that is very deep and one that I would prefer not spending pick 8 on.

184 - An intriguing idea. I've seen his name tossed around to us. Definitely a player "worthy" of pick 8. The talent just drops off after this guy and the next logical players at this draft are mid-round projections.

188 - People are enamored with this guy and I just don't see it. If we trade back to the mid-teens, sure... but not at 8, imo.

192 - Under no circumstances is this player our pick at 8. I will resign if I am out-voted on this. I get personally frustrated when I see him mocked to us.

196 - Day 2 pick, sure... but not at 8. We already have him on this roster.

200 - If all other boxes are checked, this guy could be argued to be the BPA at 8.

204 - Mid-teens value. Some people rank him higher... but not at 8 for me

208 - no chance of coming to us. Needs to be taken off the board unless he happens to slip to the 5th or something.

212 - This guy is #2 on my board at 8. His leadership and intensity cannot be coached into a player. May be the best, on that side of the ball, in this draft once all is said and done. His resume should be all that needs to be said. I am, if you cannot tell, really high on this guy.

- Lunch time... I'll post more opinion later today.

continued...

212 - Not at 8. 2nd, sure.

220 - no need to be on our board

224 - eh

228 - not at 8. 2nd sure.

232 - Very high on this player. Not at 8 but I could see us moving up for this player in the 2nd.

236 - A good Prospect, but only considering the position strength this year.

240 - I think we need a guy like this. Only question I would have is if he can step up into a #2 role and replace who we currently have.

... now we start getting into guys I think are in play for 2.8

244 - Would really like to see this guy at 2.8. If he starts slipping here, I will get a very itchy trigger finger to move up.

248 - See above 244 - not necessarily a glaring need but...

252 - I just can't see this guy in our system.

256 - don't know anything about him

260/264 - Start to see players like this in the mid 2nd and we could think about moving back or up...

268/272 - this would be "planning for future player retirements"

276 - depth only

280 - position of need.... We have had luck with fellow alumni of his

284 - see 260/264

... I'm just gonna pick around after this player...

296 - Injury concerns but could slip and be of great value on day 3

312 - I've got my eye on this guy. I would love to get him on day 3

408 - I have heard a lot of talk about this guy. I dunno where I rank him... 2nd/3ed/4th... but A lot of people I trust think this guy will be good.

444 - If we do not get "the other guy" at this position that I have my eye on, I would like to see this guy in a panthers uniform.

1049 - see 444. this guy and 444 are 2 and 3 on my list at this position.

1064 - gonna have to keep an eye on this guy and see where he falls. If he starts dropping, mid-day 3?

1073 - Smart player. late draft or UDRFA steal. May never be an all-pro, but could provide solid rotational value.

I don't know much about the rest of the prospects. I leave most rounds past the 4th up to my staff.

well... we need to add 1022 to the list as recent comments have made it apparent he is on our radar.

rest of staff - Sounds good, Lasus, but I don't know about xyz player

lasus83 - Well, to that end, we are a ways away from the start of the draft and do not know exactly what trades may be. XYZ player is an option, currently... what do you have against him?

Rest of staff - Well, I hear he has character concerns <insert URL>

Lasus83 - hmm, I didn't know about that...

AGM - yea, he might not be on our board IRL... I saw this as well <insert URL>

Rest of Staff - We were thinking that abc player might be a better fit for our scheme and has not had such character concerns

Lasus83 - Yea, he was on my radar too... Should we drop xyz off the board entirely?

burnoutonme - I think so, yes.

Rest of staff - Sure, I don't think that we should keep a player that doesn't have any realistic shot of getting on the team.

Lasus83- ok, burnoutome if you will take him off our board or somehow indicate that he is on a "character concerns" list.

...

Good discussion... glad we settled that.

My big board looks like this, currently:

Players worthy of 1.8
156
176
212
160
184
200
168
188
172
164

Players worth considering if we trade down or trade up to the teen/20s
232
236
180
224
196
204
192
244
216
228

These are in order.

I really like 160 if he falls to us at 8.

assuming 160 and 176 are there... do you still take 160?

I don't think that either is a bad decision.

IRL, if the FO picks on of these guys I think we are all going to be very excited.

I suppose my question is... what side of the ball needs the most help? Which player can have a bigger impact? If we assume that both could develop into an all-pro, which one positionally matters the most.

I'm starting to get a little married to 176 from my end. I made the argument with another player a few years ago that, no matter how devalued a position may be, a generational talent is a generational talent and can be a hallmark of your franchise. I kind of think he fits that bill. I really like 160 but I'm not 100% sold on him as being the type of player that would define a franchise like that.
