I can live with that. Once they cut Jackson I figured DmC would be back. Our entire starting offense is now set for 2017 imo. Defense needs help, but everyone who is going to get touches on offense is already here I think.

Like getting McFadden back. Would have liked Carr back on a smaller deal, oh well. CB will have to be addressed in the draft (though bringing back Carr or Clai wouldn't have changed that, just would have been less pressing).

Per Drummond...

Minus DMC's deal, Dallas has about $6m in cap. $5m will be added when Dallas designates Free. And, then Romo's $5-9m depending on how they handle him. Dallas will need $5-7m for draft picks and in season money. Leaves somewhere in neighborhood of $11-12m of cap room. Add in a few more cuts...Dallas should have $15m or so.

Brown, Carroll, Scan, Leon McFadden Heath, Frazier. That's our secondary right now. It's not the worse, but doesn't exactly fill me with confidence either.

Some remaining FA....

Patrick Robinson... interviewed last year.
Revis... anything left in the tank?
Flowers... eek
Sterling Moore... please no.

It's slim pickins' at CB...not a lot at S either.

Pencil in CB and S in rds 1, 2, or 3 ?? Almost have to with what is on the roster right now.

I actually do expect we will pick at least 2 DBs in the draft. Our situation almost mandates it and this is an excellent class for DBs. I am not interested in any of those FAs for anything significant.

Byron Jones is in our secondary too BTW.

Knew that didn't look right. Was trying not to focus the lack of depth across the board.

I do still wonder about Jones moving forward. I mean, Dallas had him labeled as a CB when they drafted him.

I believe he can play either position well, but it is best for him to try and focus on one position. So I would keep him where he is and know that if we absolutely need to, we can switch him to CB and he wouldn't embarrass himself (IMO).

If you really want to think of the stuff that nightmares are made of, how about that projected secondary performing without any pass rush?

As others have said it's a deep class for DB's which may explain our hesitancy to sign a FA. But man do we need to find a pass rush. Could be a long frustrating year without one.

What is everyone going to do when Dallas doesn't draft a DE...or waits until late rounds to do so?

A healthy Charles Tapper returns and equates to the rookie pick everyone is clamoring for. Dallas DL as is right now, put up something like 16-17 sacks over last 6 games. Irving and Mayowa are both young. Collins put up 5 his rookie year....

Are you prepared to be disappointed?

I hear you. DE's will get drafted higher due to the nature of the position and the demand. I can see us drafting an OT if one falls in round 1. Possibly a WR. DB may get addressed in RD 1 and I think we may see multiple DB's drafted.

I'm not one of those fans who wants an All Pro at every position. But man we are a little heavier on hope vs. production at the DL position especially DE. Nothing is ever a sure thing. Maybe Tapper produces. Maybe Lawrence is healthy and productive. Ditto Crawford. Maybe Irving and Mayowa continue to develop. For me the only sure thing is Collins. I think he is going to be very good. Can't say that about anyone else. I know that having the ability to consistently pressure the passer is a key ingredient to winning. We haven't been able to do that.

OK, time to ask, what "cheap, low budget" Free agents are left to lessen the loss of so many CBs/DBs???

Also can anyone project any Compensation picks for our latest losses? (Carr, Mo)

or our overall Comp pick additions next year?

I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this, but we do have Randy Gregory waiting in the wings. This has probably been the longest he's gone without any issues...

November reinstatement means that he can come back and be a specialist.

He's not coming back in November. 1 year suspension that started in January. I think?
