Seattle may lose 2nd-round pick in 2017 draft as a result of season-long failure to disclose knee injury to Richard Sherman, per @mortreport

Seems pretty harsh, but Pete Carroll is a serial offender when it comes to not following the League's rules.

It's awesome that the league punishes teams for violating a rule that exists primarily for the benefit of people who engage in an activity that's illegal in 20 states.

Someone else said it's likely just an elevation of the 5th rounder they lost.

I thought the rule was meant for competitive transparency.

Transparency for gamblers is a nice plus I suppose, although the NFL doesn't seem to want to promote gambling unless it's called DFS.

Is that a wink-wink take? The real reason behind the stated reason?

I mean if all season every Seattle game was played with everyone knowing Sherman's nursing a serious injury... the spreads are a changin.

Not sure how Pete is dumb enough to have mentioned this in the presser. Hoping it was a non-football injury

Tony Romo admitted to playing with broken ribs in 2014 and Cowboys were also never punished.

The NFL has fined the Ravens $20,000 for not listing safety Ed Reed on the team's injury report with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. After Reed revealed the injury on a Baltimore radio station, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said there are plenty of players who have injuries just like Reed's and the team didn't report Reed because the injury didn't cause him to miss any time in practice or in games.

The Jets failed to place Favre, now with the Minnesota Vikings, on the injury report during the final month of last season even though he had a torn biceps tendon.

The league announced it had fined the Jets $75,000, and Mangini and Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum $25,000 apiece. Mangini now coaches the Cleveland Browns.

I'm shocked that so many people were unaware of what he was talking about.

Did Sherman miss practices? If he started every game and practiced fully I don't see how it matters if he had an ailment. I think you are supposed to list injuries instead of deceiving the other team (gamblers) if there is a chance a player may miss the game. If he is hobbled but playing that isn't deceiving, the other team will figure that out themselves.
