How could some of our Jets fans argue about money, when they were happy to give Fitz 12 million. How did that work out for us???
I never understood the frustration with this

It was a 1 year deal

ONE YEAR

And I hate Fitz

In theory, a 2 year deal because he has a 5 mil cap hit this year.

The market is completely different for starting QBs. Apples to oranges.

I would say it is more like oranges to lemons, because Fitz was a real lemon.

Not very happy about this signing. I would've let him walk for 7mil per.

Agreed. Well it is what it is. Moves like this are beginning to make me question Mac but I'll give him this offseason and draft. Maybe we will be presently surprised.

It's a little more than I wanted to pay but with inflation I can't complain. ii just hope he's consistent and not a liability going forward.

Was going to be a wasted year regardless considering we had no other option at QB in FA.

Good signing, shows the young players if you play hard you get rewarded. I'm all about that. Consistency with the offensive line is what will make a team good, people need to realize that talent takes time outside of round 1. We'll target a LT before the draft so we can go BPA. Given the strengths of this line I expect us to seriously consider a top RB I just hope a team is willing to offer a conditional 7th for Forte. We don't get anything if they don't win a SB or something just to move his contract/if he wants to win somewhere.

Brian Winters signing creates consistency on the interior of the line. Letís see how the rest of the offseason goes before criticizing their first signing. Brian Winters is a guard who steadily improved year to year. Keeping Winters was a priority. I remember a year ago people wanted Winters to be cut. I hate the hypocrisy of writers and fans who criticize the Jets inability to develop players but when the Jets develop one and keep one there is backlash. I am sure fans and writers will complain if the Jets lost Winters to free agency and he becomes an All-Pro guard, aka, Snacks. Salaries steady go up. The Jets have a plan and is being aggressive in following their plan. I see this signing as a positive move.

Something struck me listening to bowls end season interview. QUOTE: He feels it takes two years to get a feel for your team. The first year everybody goes the extra mile to make a good impression. The second year they start to show their true colors.
I believe this was a character signing, above all. I think Winters shows up with his lunch pail each and every day. Give me a room full of guys like that any day. Big cat is of the same mould. I won't quibble about what players are making elsewhere as I don't have enough savvy in that department. SORRY! But I do like the signing.

I agree 100%

Once some of these other G hit the market I think people will realize that it was a very fair deal. I'm always for signing a young good player that you drafted. Think about it how many young players have we drafted and wanted to keep after there rookie contract ran out. NOT MANY
