#azcardiinals re-sign DT Josh Mauro to two-year deal. Due to be restricted FA. Played well. 13 starts, despite suffering arm injury early.

No figures yet but I'm sure it's negligible. Solid re-sign. Good player who hustles, make an impact and is still young enough (25) to continue developing. I love the move, especially with the future's of Calais Campbell and Frostee Rucker in doubt.

I've always liked Mauro. Always been a decent rotation guy and if Calais is gonna be gone we're gonna need players like him to step up

I like Mauro. He is a smart, tough, physical player and adds great depth. I def dont see Rucker being back and i think its 60-40 Calais is back.

I like the resign as well. I am giving up on Daryl Washington. I think the Cardinals should try to find a fast linebacker to man the middle. I loved the year the Cards had both Washington and Dansby. They were fun to watch. With a fast linebacker, they could couple him with Deone and have something. Do you remember Washington's A-gap blitzes? I know a bunch of quarterbacks do. I also think the Cards should try to sign Mo Claiborne as a second cornerback. Him, Pat Pete, and Honeybadger reunion? I hope they are able to bring back Tony Jefferson. He has been a stud for a while. I wonder what the d-line will look like without Calais. I think the Cards might be able to find a one-year guy and continue to develop Gunther and Nkemdiche. Finally, I would like to see a higher pick spent on Offensive Guard. We are pretty close to having an elite line with a move here.

The bolded is a scheme thing, it was very much a Ray Horton thing. It went to Tennessee and then Cleveland with him. Bettcher and Bowles have been much more about creating edge pressure.

Clairborne - I'll give a hard no to that one. He's played good ball this year, but it is one year and corner is the single hardest spot in the NFL to be consistently good. Remember when Rod Hood had that one season where he was metrically a top 5 corner?

Jefferson - I'm not paying him good money. He's played his role well, but it is a role that requires a skillset that is easily found. It is a role within this defense that can be filled without having to spend cash. I'd much rather bring back Swearinger.

Elite OL - Eh. We overpaid for Iupati who is still one of the leagues worst pass protecting guards. We have nobody at centre. We're paying a huge chunk of change to a league average left tackle who may not even be the best left tackle on the team and we have been rotating bodies at RT since before the industrial revolution.

This offensive line needs balance, a leader in the centre position, a clear plan and continuity.
