Ok, so I figured I would create a new thread on this. We have plenty of needs, but also only so much ammunition to cover them all. My question is this: where should we address each position of need as listed below, Free Agency, Draft, or Trade?

1. QB
2. TE
3. OL
4. DL
5. OLB
6. CB
7. S

I'm on the exact same boat.

I want us to spend to get playmakers for CB especially. I would be fine with the top two targets being 2 of the top CBs for free agency. Of course Gilmore and Bouye would be expensive, but that is an incredible do on would provide the talent influx we need to make a major jump on defense, plus remove the need in the draft for it. Then Fuller competes at safety, so there is talent added there as well.

I think we can overpay for one corner, but I can't see us landing two unfortunately. Suppose we get Bouye...

CB1 - Bouye
CB2 - battle among Porter/Fuller/Hall
CB3 - battle between Callahan/Le'Blanc

Huh. I wonder what I do with the rookie in the scenario above... maybe we don't go after a corner in free agency, or we draft a safety in round 2 instead?

CB1 - battle among Porter/Fuller/Hall
CB2 - Rookie
CB3 - battle between Callahan/Le'Blanc

I think the Bears will be going hard after a CB in free agency.

The learning curve with that position is just too great and I feel they really like some of the younger guys they have already in Callahan, LeBlanc and Hall.

I expect Porter to still be on this team next year because he's making peanuts and can still be effective when healthy.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Fuller though.

If they sign a guy like Bouye then I can see them trading Fuller away for a mid to late round pick.

If not, and they draft another CB then Fuller may be a candidate to move to FS depending on what they do to address the safety position.

1. QB - Trade or high draft pick (not necessarily 1st rd)

2. TE - Draft. Miller is fine as starter, get a developmental guy in 3-4th rd

3. OL - Draft. Day 3 developmental swing tackle please

4. DL - FA or high draft pick preferably for a starter, but would settle for day 3 pick. Bigger needs.

5. OLB - Eh, if Day 3 developmental guy available, fine. Willing to push here to fix other needs.

6. CB - FA AND Draft

7. S - FA AND Draft

Cross my fingers and hope Budda Baker falls.

Justin Evans
Marcus Williams

3rd Round

Marcus Maye
Josh Harvey Clemons

I think with how deep the TE and S classes are we should take advantage in the 2nd and 3rd round.

Good talent will be there.

1 - QB
2 - S
3 - OLB (deep class from what I've gathered)
4 - TE
4 - OT
5 - BPA
7 - BPA

Doesn't this depend almost entirely on how the free agent market and draft pan out?

I mean, what if Watson/Trubisky are both gone by pick 3 and Kaaya, Kizer, and Mahomes are gone by pick 35? What if there's a sudden bidding war for free agent CBs while good DL are available for cheap?

Imo,

QB- FA (Taylor) and and draft (Mahomes)2nd round or trade into late 1st
TE-3rd Round (Legget,Butt)
OL-FA(Wagner) and mid to late round pick
DL-1st round (Allen or Thomas) assuming Garrett is gone
OLB-mid round depth pick and internal(Roy Robertson-Harris)
CB- FA HEAVY. Gilmore and Bouye with hope of Leblanc or Hall developing
S-FA (Berry or Jefferson) and internal (Fuller move)

If Watson and Trubisky are gone by 3 then we get the best player in the draft, or someone trades the farm for him and we can drop a few picks to grab Kizer + more.
