the #Packers announce they have released Mike Pennel. No surprise after two suspensions. Really good talent, though.

Stupid, but not a big deal.

ugh, sucks, as he was a solid rotational piece along the line.

How can he dig a hole if he's too busy sitting on his hands?

I liked Pennel, huge man with a lot of potential. Watch him get signed by a NCFN team and flourish.

I'm going to say he's out of shape, had a relapse, or just wasn't following guidelines that were set for him. Bye bye Mike! Way to squander a potentially lucrative career in the NFL. Why else would the Packers wait out two suspensions and cut him before a game where he actually could have had some impact in stopping a great running team?

If they weren't paying him on suspension, it was worth holding him incase of a couple of DL injuries.

sucks for depth right now but KC has been playing more and more and the kid is stout. Hard to teach what Pennel has though and that's a really really big body. Oh well to bad was pulling for him all along now he's gone.

Yeah, that's a good point. I hope whatever issues he was he can put them behind him .. hate to see a guy waste his talents.

Liked his potential along the DL but can't really fault the team for doing this. 2 suspensions in the same year is ridiculous

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone been signed or activated to take Pennel's roster spot?

I saw Tripp last game, and I know we activated Waters...but that was before his release.

He wasn't on the 53 man roster. We had a one week exemption after his suspension ended to either activate or cut him. He was obviously cut.

Kind of surprising given how many snaps they have been giving to Kenny Clark. Thought they would want another big on the roster

I'm not sure this is based on much more than "they didn't want to open a roster spot for him."

With this line of thought he'll likely be back for training camp with the Pack.
