Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter reportedly arrested after win vs. Dolphins.

Porter was transported to the Allegheny County Jail. His charges include aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and terroristic threats.

Will this be a distraction? Will it hurt that he may not be available to coach in the playoff run?

A year ago Porter and Pacman Jones made headlines on the field, this week they are both making headlines off of the field.

But that's so out of character.

Porter has always been kind of an idiot, so this isnt shocking. Disappointing, but not shocking.

As far as the impact this will have on the Steelers....hard to say. His fire on the sidelines could be missed, but from a pure coaching standpoint, I dont think there is a big issue. We have several vets like Harrison and Timmons who know whats expected of them without Porter there, and Keith Butler was our former LB coach, so I assume he can take over any responsibilities Porter had during the week, if any. I honestly think this would be more of an issue if it happened, say....right before preseason. But at this point, our guys know whats expected of them. I think the main thing we lose, as I said....is that motivating character on the sidelines, but I feel like someone on our defense can step up and take over that role.

Bottom line....I think the Steelers should just roll to KC and pretend its not even happening..

I think we are going to lose to KC anyway, but I dont think this will play much of a factor to be honest. Not a huge fan of Porter as a coach in general.

I think a terroristic threat is classified as something like "I'm going to kill you!"

They're probably going to have to fire him, or face issues with the NFLPA if they cut a player for similar in future.

Those are easy to get around, for the most part.....especially if the player isnt a major contributor. NFLPA cant really do much unless there is direct evidence of some kind of double standard...and even then there isnt much they can do.

Steelers have cut players for lesser reasons than this in the past. Id be shocked if Porter isnt fired.

Apparently, Jones and Porter are in an intense poker game.

After Jones got arrested last week, Porter obviously replied " OK Adam, Iíll see your assault, resisting arrest, and public drunkenness, but Iíll definitely raise you with terroristic threats".

Your move Adam...

That joke came out flatter than the Dolphins did this weekend.

Not sure what the rules are and what kind of power Goodell and the NFL could wield over a coaching staff member. Something to keep an eye on.

Apparently a doorman wouldn't let him in cause they've kicked him out before and he was clearly drunk. He got in a fight with the doorman and sounds like a minor scuttle with the police officer responding to the fight.

Got to think the Steelers may let him go. How big of a distraction this will be? I really don't know.

Not surprising he's dumb off the field too
