He left Chicago for a lateral move here.

Quote:
Hurtt, 38, relaces Mark Collins, who Bowles fired after the season. He will work primarily with Lorenzo Mauldin and Jordan Jenkins. The two players combined for five sacks last season. Mauldin was taken in the third round in 2015, and Jenkins in 2016.

Here's what the Bears' media guide had to say about Hurtt:
Last season, under Hurtt's tutelage, Lamarr Houston (8.0 sacks), Willie Young (6.5) and Pernell McPhee (6.0) were the only trio of linebackers in the NFL to have at least six sacks each and one of only five trios to accomplish the feat. Hurtt helped both Houston and Young transition from ends in a 4-3 base defense to 3-4 outside linebackers.
In 2014, the Bears increased their sack total to 39, up from 31 a year prior to Hurtt's arrival. Thirty-five of the Bears 39 sacks (89.7 percent) came from defensive linemen in 2014 up from 21-of-31 (67.7) in 2013. That season under Hurtt's tutelage along the defensive line, Young led the team with a career-high 10 sacks after totaling just six sacks in his previous four NFL seasons with Detroit.

I like what I've read so far.

Ray Horton is free. Officially fired by the Browns.

Could be an option for secondary coach

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Would be a good fit there.

Except we should probably be transitioning from 3-4 to 4-3 Under.

We're interviewing someone who coached for the Rams last year. Not sure who.

A 43 under would work but we don't have the personnel for a basic 4-3, our De/OLBs are all better suited in stand up roles than 43 DEs and other than Lee we don't really have the OLBs to run it

Yes! We got someone other people wanted to keep! lol

I feel good about this. The Lou connection with Mauldin might help.

Jets hiring Dennard Wilson, former Rams DB Coach.

Highly regarded from what I've read, development of Trumaine Johnson and Janoris Jenkins cited.
