He is a close friend of GM Doug Waylie
I heard some speculation about it on SiriusXM today.

If this is true, I am kind of surprised that Jim Schwartz wasn't on their radar.
Most Bills fans love what the defense was under Schwartz. Just seems like a natural fit.

But, then again, I think the Rams job would be perfect for Schwartz. That defense is primed and ready for the wide 9.

I kind of hope it happens. I think there are better defensive coaches out there. I'd be pumped if we could convince Rex to come here as a DC.

Why? Everywhere he goes, he has one of the best defenses in the NFL. And wouldn't you say he brings a little bit of that fire that we complain about Caldwell lacking?

Buffalo went from a top defense to a bottom defense under his guidance. He also has a circus that follows him around and he isn't worth that kind of side show.

I would feel terrible about our defense if we lost Austin and replaced him with a Ryan.

if we lost Austin i would want a Gus Bradley type to replace him. Rex would be a decent fall back.just wouldn't give him to much power

If we lose Austin I almost guarantee we don't bring some one in and promote within.

I'm assuming your guarantee is a "hunch".

I wouldn't be heartbroken if we lost Austin. He's a solid DC and maybe he would make a good HC, but he's not the genius that a lot of us thought that he was a few years ago. You always worry if the team might struggle if the scheme changes at all, but in this case something different might be better.

This. Honestly, I feel like a lot of the defensive success stemmed from Suh and the havoc he caused.

Really wish we had a pick closer to the top of the draft. I'd love to bring Allen in and pair him with robinson.

I'm not sure rex would want to step out of the limelight so to speak but if he would I would welcome him as DC.

I dont agree with this at all.

Suh was, and is a great player, but its not as if he's all-time great.

And look at our DT situation now; its been poor play all year. Coupled with Ansah missing essentially most of the year, along with Levy.....Slay missing a few....an absolute scrub at MLB.....yet we finished top half in PPG.....with zero run game on offense.

I think Austin is fantastic and hes shown that with a good roster, he can put out a great defense.

We need to upgrade DT, LE and MLB. Insert average players at those positions this year and Id bet we finish top 10, even with the key injuries.
