Long time coming. I heard that johnson was very well liked among the players, but assuming that someone wants more/better development and coaching. Also makes me feel like Payton is somewhat safe. I'm still ready to move on.

Somehow I feel like this may have been a move more so by Loomis... may have gave Payton a ultimatum like many GMs do to HCs where staff changes must be made in order to remain.

Interesting to see who Payton and Dennis Allen bring in this offseason.

I've never been more happy. Thank you for their service, but bloody hell it's been a long time coming.

Any ideas for replacements? I know Pepper Johnson is well thought of as a D-line coach and just got fired from the Jets.

Drew Brees says in frustration... "I'm not sure how much longer I can keep doing this" a few days later heads start rolling. Coincidence, I think NOT!!!

I'd love to see soon to be former Chargers DC John Pagno as our new LB coach and soon to be former Jaguars DC Walsh as our new D-Line coach but that's just me. ST is already in good hands with O'Dea.

IT'S SOMETHING! Although I don't know about firing Johnson, if anyone should've stayed, it was him.

Glad change is happening either way, it's progress.

I think that bringing in O'Dea when he did and seeing the improvements on ST made Payton realize that maybe it was time to rid himself of the moochers on his staff and put some fresh voices in these position rooms.

I'm sure DA also had his input... however small, I'm sure he was consulted by Payton about these moves.

I actually wonder what this means for Stephone Anthony... will they cut bait and trade him this offseason or was part of this move to try and find someone that can get him to reach his potential.

Basically, has the Saints given up on him or not? It's clear he has to switch back to the Mike this offseason if he stays.

I was just talking about all of these guys earlier today and how they needed to be fired. Maybe now we can start to develop talent better.

Super happy to see Vitt gone. I felt like he out stayed his welcome years ago.

I was convinced that Stephone Anthony would be traded this offseason and that a Vitt would be back... however I don't think you make this move and not bring Anthony back to see if the new LB coach cannot develop him. Anthony has tons of physical talent but is lacking mentally. He had these same struggles as a sophomore at Clemson after an impressive freshman campaign and he eventually turned it around and became a 1st round pick. Hopefully he can do it again here with a REAL linebackers coach.

I'm also of the belief that it was Vitt who pushed for the signing of Laurinatis and switching Anthony to SAM. At least that's the rumor leak on Airline drive. That would explain why Payton felt compelled to fire Vitt.

I saw a lot of promise from him in his rookie season. He had some mental lapses, but I figured they would teach him to overcome them.

Also, any idea on who they might bring in?
