So assuming the Bills don't match, the Patriots draft picks:

3rd: 72 (Car) and 96
4th 131 (NO)
5th: 183 (comp)
6th: 200 (Ind)
7th: 239 (Det)

Didn't have time to do a full blown mock draft this year, but if we stay put at the picks we have I hope it goes something like:

Quote:
3(72): Demarcus Walker, DL, FSU
3(96): Jake Butt, TE, Michigan
4(131): Nico Siragusa, OG, San Diego State
5(183): Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State
6(200): Eric Wilson, LB, Cincinnati
7(239): Noah Brown, WR, Ohio State

UDFA: Joshua Holsey, CB, Auburn
UDFA: Elijah McGuire, RB, UL-Lafayette

This team doesn't need a lot of pieces, and this draft isn't particularly deep on the defensive line, which is where I'd say we need the most help. Drafting guys that have a chance to show potential early on defense (Walker, Wilson) and guys with upside that we can stash on offense (Butt, Siragusa, Brown) seems like a good strategy to me. Holsey and McGuire are two guys flying WAY under the radar that I'd be happy to see us take as early as the 4th or 5th. The kicker pick is a bit of a gamble but if they can get a guy as good or better than current Gostkowski at a fraction of the price, that's worth a late rounder to me.

I'd hate a kicker. Almost no chance a rookie is better than what Gostkowksi is likely to be and the Pats don't exactly need the cap space right now.

I want to see a TE or two to develop (as the #3 and a practice squad option), since IMO Gronkowski's Pats career is winding down quickly. LB and DE are the biggest needs with no depth at either spot and I'm not sold on McClellin, Roberts, Ealy or Ninkovich as quality starters. Van Noy is a useful role player but a big step down from Hightower inside.

OL depth at all positions is a concern too.

6 picks, hopefully 2 edge guys, a LB, a TE or two and an OL or two.

I'd agree re: kickers normally, but I really like Gonzalez and not hearing much buzz about him going particularly high. Maybe I'm spoiled by 20 straight years of not really having to worry about the position, but kickers are only getting more important with the extra point rule change and I'd rather move on a year early than a year late if Gostkowski's best days are behind him.
