Well, in a gift of the NFL scheduling, the Dolphins will play the Steelers next Sunday at 1. The weather forecast shows snow on Friday, and temps below freezing all day Fri, Sat, and Sunday. Temps at kickoff are expected to be around 20 to 24 degrees, with light winds.

The Dolphins match up well against the Steelers. Our running game will be able to move the ball. Even against the Patriots who had the best rushing defense in the NFL, we were able to find running lanes, especially off tackle, running from the inside out, where Ajayi had his biggest gains. Moore is going to start this game, and he will be able to find open receivers. Our passing game is very much improved from our first contest with the Steelers. Moore has some things to work on, but Gase will be able to draw up a good game plan.

On defense, lets face it the Steelers will be able to score. Again the Dolphins have to outscore them.

I see a close game, with the Dolphins winning it in the fourth quarter.

Armando reported that Tannehill will be practicing this week. In what capacity, we will see.

I think Miami has a chance but realistically I doubt they win this game. Miami is far ahead of where most thought they would be this year and the playoffs are great bonus to the teams hard work and effort on the field.
I look at the playoffs this year as training camp for next years playoffs when this team will be another year better, stronger and more experienced.
But....., if they should beat Pittsburgh which they can, and if they should beat New England which they can maybe in a few weeks we could be watching a Dolphin's Superbowl game.

They better not Play Tannehill this week. Hell they better not play him unless we some how make it to the Superbowl (highly unlikely). He is going to end up like RG3 a broke down Qb that we end up discarding. Let the man fully heal and only put him back in if he is fully healed!!!

I agree. Not worth risking his long-term health; this team just doesn't have the pieces in place to make a deep run.

I agree also. If he can avoid surgery and be ready for next season by resting
then he needs to be benched the rest of the season. The worse thing would be going into next season without a healthy Tannehill.

We match up a lot better against the Steelers but this will be a battle.

Keys to winning?

- Run Ajayi Run! This is key, we must be able to run the ball effectively, I expect the Steelers to load up the box and blitz us aggressively on passing downs.

- Who ever plays QB (Tannehill gives us a much better chance) will get chances to burn the Steelers secondary as I expect them to bring the pressure.

- Special teams! Our special teams unit is one of the best in the league we need to win the special teams battle against the Steelers.

- Opportunist Defense! We have too many wholes and injuries to expect to not give up over 20 pts, we need to make stops when needed and force some turn overs.

Looks like the Steelers are a 9.5 point favorite.

I would take that line for the Phins. Especially with the bad weather predicted...

No one's giving us a chance. Just how I like it.

Updated weather report. 19 degrees at kickoff, 15 mph winds gusting higher. Snow on Thursday and Friday, temps below freezing starting Thursday night and continuing until Tuesday.

The field is heated by underground pipes. This causes any snow to eventually melt. During times of heavy snowfall, the field will become saturated with water. Many teams have complained about horrible field conditions in the winter. Under the field is a drainage system, but there is 1 foot of topsoil under the grass that will retain water.

It will be very difficult to throw the football in this weather.

At least throw it deep, anyway. The weather suits our offensive style quite nicely, and takes away a big facet of the Pittsburgh offense in the vertical attack. Of course, Brown and Bell are still pretty dangerous in the short to intermediate passing game.

Tannehill won't be practicing today. I sincerely doubt he suits up Sunday.

Matt Moore is starting on Sunday, Tannehill has been ruled out.

It makes much more sense. Don't risk Tannehill's long term health by thrusting him back into action, and actually give the team a better shot to win on Sunday by not starting a rusty QB.
