35 at halftime Laughing

I hope they double down in the 2nd half, I wanna see a 50-burger.

Somehow Paytons ego will allow him to stand in front of the press after the game and do his usual shtick. "We did a lot of things right, but obviously there are some areas we can work on. Now we get back to practice and start ironing out some of those wrinkles. We know what we're doing right, but we need to fix what we're doing wrong."

Put that on repeat and you have Paytons last half decade.

Payton needs to go, no excuse for three straight losing seasons.

This... what's happening right now is a heavy dose of reality to those Saints fans that felt we weren't that far away and that Payton hasn't gotten stale.

I think it's over DP91... no way Payton comes into next season with this team in a lame duck year (everyone knows it will be make or break for him and Bree's) he'll force his way out to one of those west coast gigs in the offseason

With our loss today, we'll pick at #11 if my math is right... No chance we get anything for Payton from the Rams? Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Don't underestimate Payton's offensive value especially to a team like the Rams who sunk so much into Goff. Also the Rams won't be the only team interested either. I believe the Saints seriously could still land a 2nd in 2017 and a conditional pick in 2018 at the highest but Loomis may settle for a 3 and a 5 just to allow Payton an easy transition out.

Your right... a loss gives us the 11th pick and a win the 16th

Why have the saints never tried to become a run first ball control team to compensate the lack of defense or give the defense help in that regard. throwing 50 times a game is not a winning formula

Get out of here with that, I've seen every other team in the league do this. This is not a valid criticism of Brees and never has been. There are valid criticisms but this isn't one of them.

As much as I'd like to see the Saints move on from Payton, I realize it's likely not going to happen this offseason but what makes me laugh is these reports that the Rams want Payton but only if Loomis accepts "moderate" compensation... like Loomis is going to take a lower value deal simply because the Rams are low on picks, lol.

Payton may want the Rams job and the Rams may want him (or not) but Loomis's job is to always do what's best for the Saints and just like last year Payton will flirt but in the end he's under contract and unless Loomis gets his asking price... Payton won't get his.

We're 8th in time of possession, thats not the problem. And often times, our run game is garbage when we need it most. We rack a lot of yards because teams play the pass. The years our run game has been good, we won a superbowl one year and set all time historical records the other.

We do pass way too much, thats for sure, but running just for the sake of running isn't the answer. We call too many garbage running plays likes sweeps and reverses, and our o-line is inconsistent at run blocking, hence probably a reason we do so.

I'd love to go back to our 09 and 2011 offensive styles, but our o line and backfield committee was simply better back then, along with Payton calling better plays. Ingram and hightower are running hard, but our defense has also been much worse these past few years and every team passes more when they get behind, its just what happens.

Bottom line, yes we need a better running game, but we would never be the ground and pound team like Dallas without a better o-line. And our defense over the last half decade has been historically bad regardless of what plays are called on offense.
