Target moves to you Ryan Pace.

You doubled down on 9-23.

Quote:
The second-year turnaround did not happen for John Fox. The Bears coach, who twice in his career has turned in triumphant rebuilds in his second season, will try to win just his fourth game Sunday against the Vikings.

But, according to those who know him well, Fox will have the opportunity to make his mark in the third season. In addition, much of his staff is slated to return, as well.

The losses have collected for Chicago, a frustrating two seasons. The result is not what anyone has wanted. But in making the decision to stay the course, the Bears appear to be looking at more than box scores.

The Bears have hung tough with teams in playoff contention, such as the Giants, Lions and Packers. They've done so with their fourth quarterback of the year, Matt Barkley, who likely would be out of the league if the Bears hadn't put him on their practice squad to start the season.

They have a whopping 19 players on injured reserve, including many starters.

In addition, their 2016 draft class will be the foundation of the rebuild, a class that has drawn praise from opposing executives.

All of which makes for an interesting evaluation of Fox, his staff and the year: They've been forced to play young players and watch them develop. The culture, despite the losses, is a positive one. And they believe the future is bright. Could they follow in the footsteps of the Raiders ... or Cubs?

It's not perfect, of course. There could be some position coach changes, and they need a quarterback. But it will likely be Fox at the helm when it happens.

So I have to hope for a coordinator move now which will probably not happen.

Not so much IMO just for keeping Fox. But, if there are NO major changes after 3-13 / 4-12 then absolutely. I really think Loggains is on the way out with an OC with a better track record being brought in to oversee the development of a rookie QB. Weisenhunt or McCoy if fired are right at the top of the list for me and give us a better chance to compete both now and going forward.

I personally look at this the opposite as the Colts' situation. There they have a GM who has done a crappy job but have a good coach in place (IMO). Here, we have a GM who has done a really good job adding talent and a questionable HC and an OC who doesn't seem to understand how best to use the talent he has.

If Fangio leaves I think Fox's mediocrity gets further exposed.

I think Pace needs to do everything within his power to keep Fangio. Everything. If it's Fox or Fangio, then Fox has to go.

Yeah I think Pace moves into the crosshairs next year. I think if they dont make significant progress both are gone.

What does "changes within the organization" even signify? Front Office? Coordinators? Positional Coaches? Is this going to be like firing Pep Hamilton at QB coach and keeping Ron Turner?

I still don't understand how you can justify making zero changes on a possible 3-13 team. I'm sure we all know the definition of insanity, doing the same thing expecting a different result. This looks like Pace has truly tied himself to John Fox, if next year is a flop, both are guaranteed to be gone.

I think Pace jumping on the SS Fox might be the dumbest thing he has done outside of letting the QB position fall apart in front of his eyes.

He had a chance to flush a 9-23 coach and instead has further ties himself to the failure of the last 2 years.

When it seemed Fox was forced on him, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about the 9-23, now he has lost that.

I believe Pace knows what he's doing. If he continues to have drafts like 2016 and Fox continues to struggle then he will get another chance at hiring a new head coach.
