And this is coming from maybe the most pessimistic Pats fan. You have said Mayo is a chip off the old (BB) block, but I think he's already proven that isn't the case. He's happy to delegate and empower other staff to make the calls and rely on scouts etc. We have just drafted, for the first time since 1969, offensive players with the first five picks. Can you imagine BB doing that? The man who drafted Dominique Easley in the first round when we needed WRs? This regime know what the holes are - they directly tried to address those in the draft. 2 OL, 2 WR in the highest non-QB selections possible. So that's good, the knowledge is there. The OL isn't actually as bad as we think (I'm guilty of this). When all healthy and in their preferred spots, which was rare last season, it was about league average and sometimes above average. Losing Trent does actually hurt, because when he did play, he was hard to beat. So we need to pray Wallace is good enough at LT. I've said we have a bottom 3 Offensive Line, but if I calm down a bit and read up, it's not that bad. Pop Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, KJ OSborn, Ja'Lynn Polk, Jevon Baker and Hunter Henry. There MUST be production in there. There's no number 1 WR, but a bunch of 2s and 3s, but it's surely no longer the worst receiving corps in the league. A player like Maye will surely get a tune out of some of those. In the two rookies, if they can translate their college play, we have contested catch winners, a player that can get open and win on routes. Bourne is underrated, imo, Douglas is showing signs of being a very good playmaker. Henry can catch. We are missing a safety blanket, a pass catching RB, that has always been a staple in NE but now isn't for some reason. Maybe this is copium. But like you, for different reason, I am praying Maye has a great career

I have to say, I don't have very high expectations for Shipley. Also, I'm pretty sure he didn't have a lot of production at Clemson, so I don't know where that came from. I find the persecution complex surrounding the conversation on two of our draft picks to be humourous. Shipley is just not a very exciting prospect. I don't see him being more than a backup ever in his career. I'm hoping he can be a contributor in the passing game right away but I don't expect much more than that from him. This is probably my least favorite draft pick. I really hope I'm wrong about him and he is a weapon for the Eagles.

100% - I thought we would certainly have to trade up for McCarthy. My pipe dream scenarios had us grabbing Penix Jr at 11 and getting Johnny Newton at 23. So for us to come away with McCarthy and Turner is an A+ first round

I kind of agree with the Lions fan--although I'm not sure what to make of the Bengals.

Interesting tidbit there about grades. I wonder how many teams request transcripts. Never occured to me it would be a data point, although I've often said we do target smart players. We have a pretty intelligent team. We seem to have only a small handful of players who make mental mistakes or get penalized a lot.

This is spot on, imo. Some decision making under pressure worries me. But he can do everything. The ball absolutely pops out of his hand, he can make every throw, he can make plays happen with his legs, some houdini plays in his portfolio, which is nice (we haven't really had an improviser gun-slinger type) But I have worries with the decision making. He will throw many picks, because he's fearless with the ball. He knows he can try and fit it into tight windows, and he will try. Which will result in picks. He leaves the pocket too easily too, which I hate. In the NFL, you MUST hang in there and wait for developments.

Using cousins as a comparison is a poor argument, this couple of off-seasons has shown that that franchise is a clown show and has no idea what's it's doing.

Hes gonna be suspended, it’s just a matter of when. And the when only happens after the court case is figured out and a verdict.

We actually ran the ball a lot(for an Andy ReidMahomes team), we just didn’t have a deep threat worth a damn. So defenses just sat on the underneath stuff all season. They attacked the LOS, regularly tripled Travis. Like I’ve never seen cover one be so successful against a Mahomes offense before, and blitzes were especially effective. at one point it felt like 3-4 times a week MVS was wide open, waving for the ball, and Mahomes dumps it for a short gain. Cut MVS out, add two potentially legit deep threats, and think we see things open up for the run game and Kelce.
