Brown left without a contract. It was probably always a pipe dream anyway.

Zach Brown is your pipedream???? That is some low standards. Brown is an above average starter with great speed but he is not pipedream worthy lol

Pipedream as in he's the best available FA LBer around so it's understandable that he's looking for a bigger deal than what we're offering. No one is saying he's a franchise altering player.

So the rumors about Brown are this.

He wanted a longer contract than Miami was willing to give.

He wanted more guaranteed money than Miami was offering.

His agent is still in contact with Miami, he really wants to play in Miami and move out of the cold. It appears that he may be willing to give Miami an opportunity to sweeten their deal based on what Buffalo is offering. If Buffalo offers similar numbers to what Miami offered, he will sign with Miami.

So there is still a chance that Brown signs with the Dolphins. For him at least, the dollars aren't the only thing he cares about.

I hope they stick to their valuation and don't over-pay.

Dolphins have about $17.9 million in cap space after all the reported deals, extensions, and pay cuts.

So very roughly about $10 million to spend since they need to leave room for rookies.

Signing Brown and possibly extending Landry would take up most of what Miami has left.

Or it's just that the tax in Florida is less...

Sounds like Zach Brown's meeting with the Bills didn't go well, seems like it's down to us or the Raiders.

Last I heard was a couple of days ago he was setting up "additional visits", I'm assuming with other teams.

If he's still looking for money, he's not going to find it. That time has passed.

Meh. He wouldn't have been a long-term solution anyway.

On to the draft.

Landry extension soon?

Awesome special-teamer. According to beat writers, he left a 3-year contract on the table (among other contracts) to sign the tender with Miami.

thats odd, i'd nearly rather a guy get his money, especially since he's not vital to the success of the team

Mike isn't a dummy, he knows that the FS position is going to be an open competition this year. Nate Allen isn't anything special, and any rookie FS the Phins draft is going to have to learn the playbook first. Mike has a golden opportunity to earn the starting FS role in camp, and keep it if he plays well. No other team could offer him that. If he doesn't earn the job full time, he can leave next year.

Mike has the physical ability to play FS, he needs to really study tape so that he is predicting what is going to happen, instead of just reacting to what he sees. Safties that just react are always going to be a step slow.
