Same. Couldn't care less at this point. And if we win next week that'll probably give Payton another year, so it'll probably be this time next year before I start caring again.

They always seem to play better after they're eliminated from playoff contention.

I didn't even know we played since it was a Saturday. Who cares.

Every year. They play tough and win the meaningless games at the end of the year. They go from drafting 5-8 to 15th ish by winning those games, every, single, time.

Maybe this time it'll improve his value for when we want to trade him.

Last 3 years:

Start slow, claw up to .500 at the midway point and have playoff hopes, lose a few games to practically eliminate ourselves, win most of the remaining games to go 7-9

We Rams now, but with offense instead of defense.

But no Gurley or a young QB that at least has potential.

It'll be pretty funny if the coach of the new Rams is hired to fix the old Rams. Laughing

Might as well go all in next season, and if it doesn't work, trade away all of our good players for picks and start from the ground up. I think next year will be the last of the Brees era in New Orleans.

That or trade Brees and Payton for whatever they can get.

Trade for a stopgap or let a young guy you don't care about struggle early while you find your QB.

Promote Loomis to VP and put him in charge of the finances. I fully believe in Loomis as a money guy. He's kept us competitive even while Payton whiffs on big name free agents all the time. Hire Marvin Lewis as the GM, let him bring in his guys.

I hope we don't get rid of Brees yet. He'd be a great guy to mentor a new QB, much like the Favre / Rogers story.

Brees is going to keep playing (like Favre) and will remain very good for another 3-4 years ((kinda)like Favre), and I'd prefer he be good with the Saints.

I know people will say "get a good pick out of him while you can". Well, I'd prefer the most accurate QB in the league, coupled with durability and game IQ who can mentor a young guy, over a craps shoot draft pick.

Payton, on the other hand... Trade him for a good CB and a good D-coordinator that we can turn into a head coach.

Saints continue to fall down the draft pole at the last minute again...

While some like to think that this isn't such a big deal and is actually a good think for the future, chew on this for a second...

In 2015 the Saints did this exact same thing and in the last few weeks of the season fell out of the top 10 and down to the 13th pick. Heading into the 2015 draft the Saints set their sights on Clemson pass rusher Vic Beasley but knew they would have to trade up. They actually had a deal in place to move into the top 10 ahead of Atlanta but got cold feet due to the asking price to move up. Beasley eventually went to the Falcons and we got Peat, Anthony and Kikaha. The rumored deal was 13 and 31 for the Bears 7th overall pick.

Since then... Peat has failed to beat out strif and was a failure at RG but has settled into a LG role, Anthony is bordering bust town and Kikaha (2nd round) is coming off his 3rd acl tear.

Meanwhile the Falcons offense is tops in the league and they boast one of the leagues permier young pass rushers in Beasley who has 14.5 sacks heading into this final game against the Saints Sunday.

So one would say that in hindsight the Saints should have made the deal where other would say that the bigger problem was those final few meaningless wins that put them out of realistic grasp of the player that they wanted all along. Now the salt in the wound is the fact that he's now playing for the Falcons and there in the playoffs and we're not and we're mostly not due to our lack of pass rush.
