The Bengals have finally been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, so now we find out what this team will do the next 2 weeks. This next game has big playoff implications, when they try to spoil the Texans division hopes on Christmas eve.

History

The Bengals currently have a record of 2-3 while playing in Houston. Last team both teams played was last year when the Texans won in Cincinnati 10-6. But the last time both teams played in Houston in 2014, the Bengals won 23-14. Last time the Texans beat the Bengals in Houston was the 2013 playoffs 19-13.

The game will only be on NFL Network. But if you live in the tristate, it will air on local 12.

Now for the 5 keys to victory

5.Emotions - Once again, the Bengals imploded in a big game against the Steelers, getting stupid penalties on the Steelers game winning drive. This game may not have the same bad blood as they do against the Steelers, but you can bet the Bengals haven't forgot about the Texans giving the Bengals there first loss of the season last year.

4.Rush defense - The defense wasn't the reason for there loss against the Steelers, but the run defense continued to have problems. They did good in the 1st half, but ran out of gas in the 2nd half, which means there rush defense is 26th now. The Texans run game is 5th in the NFL, but Lamar Miller had some problem against the Jags

3.Savage debut - Tom Savage will be making his 1st career start in the NFL, although he already played practically a full game against the Jags and didn't look bad at all. The Bengals pass defense is ranked 13th in the NFL, but if they make this guy look good in his 1st start, heads will start to roll.

2.Turnover difference - Both the Bengals and Texans lost there turnover battles in week 15, but the Texans still came out with a win despite turning it over 3 times. The Bengals usually shoot themselves in the foot on primetime games, and they can't do that here if they want to somehow win a road primetime game.

1.Abandoning gameplan too soon - The Bengals were doing everything right in the 1st half on offense against the Steelers, and then when the 2nd half arrived, they disappeared once again. If they do that again, they will lose without a doubt.

Prediction

I expect a close game, but we all know Marvin Lewis's excellent primetime record on the road. The Texans are by no means a perfect team as they are very sloppy, so this game will be decide on who doesn't suck the worst.

Bengals 7 Texans 14

Looks like Dawson has been elevated from the practice squad for Saturday. Also, chance Boling will miss a game after struggling all season with a shoulder injury.

Would be nice to see Dawson. Still holding out hope that Dawson, WJIII, and Billings will all be positive additions to the active game day roster next season...

It'll be difficult to justify myself watchign this game when we're out of the playoffs and it will start early in the morning on Christmas Day. I have no idea if I want us to win or lose any more.

We have a good chance of getting a top 5-6 pick if we lose. So, go Bengals... Laughing

AJ Green out for the last two weeks.

Also, Ogbusucky going to start at LT most likely with Boling out.

RIP Dalton. Probably not a bad idea to start McCarron at this point. But they won't. And Dalton is going to die because of it.

Yeah, Dalton is going to get destroyed by Clowney and Mercilus. Hope they learn to not just give a spot to Ced because he was a first round pick. Fisher looks much better than him at RT; he should have started sooner...

Goodness. Ogbuehi might be one of our worst first round picks in recent memory.

This is why i grimace every time someone suggests moving Whit to LG. Have to have someone to put at LT first. They haven't had that guy in a long long long time.
