Quote:
Smith-Schuster is big and strong, average route runner,” said one NFL scout, who expects him to go in the first two rounds. “Still needs work and polish but will be a good pro. “Didn’t have a dominant year.”

Quote:
Adoree Jackson is athletic and fast,” one NFL scout said. “Playmaker ... he has enough special (traits) to overcome his lack of size.”

Ole Miss' Chad Kelly
"I'm not a fan of this QB class, but I think Chad Kelly could be a value pick with some upside."

Quote:
"This is a tough one. I think Webb will go earlier than people think. When you really study him, he's pretty good. I think he'll gain some ground with a good Senior Bowl, too. He might not make it to the middle rounds."

Quote:
"Sefo Liufau. Very good intangibles, very good toughness, great size and a good enough arm. He's very accurate on the underneath and intermediate stuff."

Quote:
"This isn't an easy question. The QB class isn't very good at all. I would say C.J. Beathard from Iowa. He doesn't do anything special, but he won't lose you the game. He's got a chance."

Quote:
"I don't thinkBeathard played very well this year, but he showed some stuff last year. He'll probably be a late-round pick, but he has some redeeming qualities."

Quote:
Tim Williams an extremely explosive pass rusher with the potential to be a consistent double-digit sack guy in the league,” said one area scout, assigned to Bama. “He doesn’t get enough credit for his edge-setting ability either. But off-field stuff will drop him in the draft.” An AFC college scouting director added, “Excellent quickness, flexible, athletic with good speed and he plays all out. Excellent motor. Excellent intensity. And he has a knack for pass rush.”

Quote:
“He’s big, athletic, great ball skills, can go get it,” said one AFC exec. “The best receiver in the class. And I think the only thing he lacks is rare top-end speed. He’s got everything else.” One NFC college scouting director compared Mike Williams to Demaryius Thomas and Alshon Jeffrey, and echoed the AFC exec in saying, “He’s a big, physical guy, but how fast is he? I think he’s in the 4.5 range, which would be plenty fast enough. And he had some drops this year, easy drops, but also made some incredible catches. And he was coming off the (neck) injury when the drops were a problem. He’ll go in the first round and make some offense better.”

Quote:
"THE WAY [GUICE] RUNS, MY GUESS IS HALF OR MORE [NFL TEAMS] WOULD TAKE HIM OVER FOURNETTE RIGHT NOW. Asked if Fournette has that want and desire, the scout says, "That will be the No. 1 question from every team that interviews him."."

Quote:
Solomon Thomas, DL, Stanford : "He’s a stud, if he declares this year [Thomas is a third-year sophomore]. Very active hands, quick in shedding blocks. Flexible body with good control. Emotional leader."

Quote:
Haason Reddick, DE/LB, Temple: "Great motor. High effort guy who covers a lot of ground. Can consistently set the edge. Concerns: He doesn’t win with power. Think he’ll project best at outside linebacker."

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/nfl-draft-2017-mitch-trubisky-north-carolina-tar-heels-quarterback-122116

Quote:
Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado: "Impressed by his versatility; he lines up everywhere. Strong in run support. Speed and instincts are there. He makes plays with his eyes."

Quote:
“A lot of them played early,” said an NFC executive. “LSU has two guys, one (Fournette) obviously will be a starter in the NFL and I think the other one (Derrius Guice) will, too. The kid at Stanford (Christian McCaffrey) is phenomenal. Dalvin is a no-brainer.”

Quote:
“His upside is through the roof,” another scout said, referring to Howard. “He’s a phenomenal human being and a great worker. At Alabama, you’re a blocker first and a receiver second. He’s grown as a blocker from a toughness and effort standpoint, and as a receiver he’s still a little untapped.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
As for Butt, another senior, one scout said, “He’s more of your traditional tight end. He’s tight in his hips and shoulders. I see him in the third round.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
One scout said Ross had excellent hands and projected as a top deep threat. Of Williams, another said, “He’s a big body like Dez Bryant. He fits that profile well.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
"McCaffrey a jack of all trades guy,” one scout said. “He can catch, be your returner and give you 15 snaps a game. He’s not a workhorse. I would think second round.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Of Pumphrey, one scout said: “He’s (tiny) but is he exciting.”

Quote:
Of Clement, another scout said: “He’s got quick feet and some burst. He could be that guy after a couple games if he popped off a few runs in a reserve role and your starter went down. Like Jordan Howard did this year in Chicago.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Junior Zach Cunningham (6-3, 230) of Vanderbilt was compared by one scout to Seattle’s K.J. Wright in style of play. “He’s a modern inside backer,” said another scout. “He’s an athlete. He’s pretty (expletive) good but it’s not even close to Foster.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Senior Vince Biegel (6-3, 245) of Wisconsin is headed for the mid-rounds, according to one scout. “He may be too small,” said a scout for a 3-4 team, “but he plays hard.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
“I think Peppers is overrated,” one scout said. “He’s more of a safety than an outside linebacker because of size. He doesn’t have a position. Average punt returner.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
His teammate, junior T.J. Watt (6-5, 247), should be taken a round over two ahead of Biegel if he declares. “He should stay in,” one scout said. “He needs to get bigger and stronger.”

Quote:
Tim Williams is a dynamite pass rusher,” said one scout. “He gets off the edge … Anderson is a very steady, good football player. He doesn’t look pretty but he makes plays.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Reuben is a machine, man,” said one. “He lost about 15 pounds this year but he has been above 250. Broad-shouldered, tapered, thick trunk, thick-legged guy. He can fly. He’s got rare trunk and core explosive power where he can just unload on people. And he can cover.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Lewis is little so he gets discounted for me,” said one scout. “Second round. He’s a very good player … We moved (Desmond) King to safety. He can’t run.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
“People are excited about this safety group,” one scout said. “Getting some starter-quality players. With Peppers, I guess it depends what you think of his coverage skills.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Jamal Adams is a thumper,” one scout said. “He defines the position of strong safety.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
As for the Florida cornerbacks, one scout said, “Wilson’s bigger and a little more physical. He’s not quite as fast as Teez. Teez is a true mano-a-mano, down-the-field, ball-skills type guy. They both have size and speed.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
“He’s the most complete corner I’ve seen come out of there,” said one scout. “He’s as violent I’ve ever seen a corner be. I guess a little of that comes from the dad and he just carried it over. He can be a big-time player but he’s got to get some eye discipline.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Perhaps the best senior nose tackle is Clemson’s Carlos Watkins (6-3, 315). “Good, solid college football player,” said one scout. “Nothing dynamic. He won’t ever be able to consistently win a one-on-one against an NFL guard. He’s strong and can occupy, but he’s just not that guy.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
McDowell has first-round talent,” said one scout. “I like him as a 5-technique. We have Wormley as a 3-technique. Second round. He’s got quickness.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Auburn junior Carl Lawson (6-2, 253) is a “talented DPR (designated pass rusher),” said one scout. “He’s a leader once he walked through the door there. If you’re looking for that Trent Cole-Brandon Graham kind of guy, he fits.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Another end with first-round probability is Missouri’s Charles Harris, who already declared. “He’s a first-rounder,” one scout said. “He’s long, got get-off, athletic.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Tennessee junior Derek Barnett (6-3, 270) had the most sacks (12) this season of the top linemen. “He plays hard when it’s time to rush the passer,” said one scout.

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
“It’s not even a comparison,” said one scout. “A’Shawn is still a big project and this kid starts from Day 1. Jonathan Allen damn near unblockable in a lot of games. He’s not a special athlete but he’s extremely strong and an outstanding technician. He just looks like a pro.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Garrett is the best player in the draft,” said one scout said from a 3-4 team. “He’s an outside backer. He’s a freak. He can do anything he wants to. This guy is bigger and longer than Von Miller.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Fournette's got everything you want,” said one scout. “He’s massive, he’s got good feet and he’s got speed. Top-15 pick.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Watson's whole key is when he interviews how well he is able to talk about coverages,” said another scout. “He’s got arm talent. He’s not a great runner. The question is, does he have quick decision-making skills?”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Trubisky's a one-year guy,” said one scout. “Athletic. Can sling the ball. But his feet get a little happy under pressure. I think he’s coming out.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Kizer and Trubisky have all the talent but we’ve had a lot of those guys come and go,” said one scout. “It depends on where they go and who’s there to develop them. Even Deshaun Watson, someone truly has to have a plan for him. They all have legitimate questions but they all have the talent to be starters.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Another scout compared Elflein to Green Bay’s Corey Linsley, a former Buckeye drafted in the fifth round in 2014. “That’s exactly how he plays,” he said. “Third round. He’s the best center.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Pocic] is extremely intelligent,” one scout said. “He’s tough and strong. He’s not elite physical talent, obviously, but he does have elite size for guard or center.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Feeney’s the old-school, run-blocking guard who needs to work on his pass pro,” said one scout. “Dorian Johnson will struggle in pass pro at times because of his body control. But he’s a bigger body with enough athleticism to play the position.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Tackle Zach Banner (6-9, 360) of USC is the son of Lincoln Kennedy, a three-time Pro Bowl right tackle for the Raiders. “He’s a right tackle only,” said one scout. “He’s 360 but he (moves) effortlessly.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Bolles is a second-round player but he may go (first) because he’d be artificially pumped up there,” said one scout. “He’s more of a traditional mauler.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
“LSU has good edge guys and I was saying, ‘Who the heck is the left tackle?’” said another scout. “Ramczyk matches up with people stride for stride athletically. I was shocked.” Ramczyk, according to teams, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip after the Badgers’ bowl game. “It’s a four-month (injury),” said one scout. “He’s very talented. I think he will come out. He’s deciding that right now.”

Quote:
Cam Robinson talented but he gets lazy,” said one scout. Added another: “His issues are technical. He is aggressive, big and physical, but he’ll whiff every now and then. All that can be corrected.”

Quote:
Ohio State junior Curtis Samuel (5-11, 200) could be drafted as a wide receiver or running back.“I think he’ll come out but I don’t know where to play him,” one scout said. “He’s a slot receiver who can play running back. He’s really quick and really fast.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Engram, like Everett, has got to be a move or flex guy. He’s more of a true big receiver like Marques Colston. He’ll never be a point-of-attack guy but he does have outstanding receiving potential and skills.”

http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/12/17/mcginn-class-running-backs-may-best-draft/95521504/

Quote:
Everett fits the mold of a Jordan Reed,” said one scout. “He’s rare post-catch. Eric Ebron had a little bit of that. He can be a mismatch weapon.

Quote:
"Everyone just eats Deshaun Watson all to hell and I think it is getting to be overkill. He doesn't have great field vision and makes too many mistakes with the ball. I get it. But why aren't we talking about what he does? He's a winner who always seems to come up with big plays in big games and he's a great athlete with leadership skills. I heard some of the same concerns about Dak Prescott coming out and I think he's doing OK." -- NFC personnel director

"I see what you see too, but that's the MAC, not the SEC. If he made some of those throws against NFL cornerbacks and safeties, they turn into pick-sixes. He's a great kid, he's smart, but he falls below the minimum standard for arm strength." -- AFC scout on Central Michigan QB Cooper Rush

Quote:
"I don't care how big he is. He's a good player. Look, he's tiny so you can't take him too early because there is a big risk in putting a skinny runner out there. You have to have an offense that makes sense for him, but everyone I talk to on the road likes the talent. The size is going to be the only concern." -- AFC West scout on San Diego State RB Donnel Pumphrey

Quote:
"I've heard other scouts compare him to Will Fuller, but that's just too much in my opinion. Fuller's football speed was off the charts. Fuller would get his separation on speed alone, but I think Westbrook is helped out a little bit by the offense Oklahoma runs. I like him, but I don't 'Will Fuller like him.'" -- AFC scout on Oklahoma WR Dede Westbrook

Quote:
"He's really making himself some money late in the season. He's got a reputation for being a little bit lazy and he definitely takes too many plays off, but when the lights are bright, he usually shows up. These playoffs could really boost his stock even more." -- NFC director of scouting on Clemson TE Jordan Leggett

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler spoke to one AFC North scout who called West Virginia senior C Tyler Orlosky "nasty" and a "warrior."
"He might not be the best athlete or technician, but he has the awareness, aggressiveness and inner confidence required to get the job done," the scout concluded. Centers are asked to play early on in their careers, and some believe Orlosky is one of the top prospects at the position for the 2017 NFL Draft. He's been a consistent starter since 2014.

"You are getting a guy who will be great for your locker room and will get the rest of the offensive line on board. I think he could have the same fast impact on a team's running game that Zack Martin had in Dallas. Safe draft pick to me." -- NFC West scout on Ohio State C Pat Elflein

"He was my sleeper headed into the season, but that went out the window with the (quality) season he had this year. I think he's a second-rounder who needs time (to develop), but he'll probably get overdrafted. He's going to be a productive pro." -- AFC area scout on UCLA DE Takkarist McKinley

"(Jake) Browning and (John) Ross get most of the attention around here, but Washington's secondary is what makes them one of the top four teams in the country. I would put (Kevin) King, Sidney Jones and Budda (Baker) up against any secondary in the nation. Jones is probably a first-rounder and I'm guessing Budda goes second day (Rounds 2-3), but King deserves more attention for his play as well." -- NFC regional scout on the Washington secondary

"I see the talent, but where are all the plays? I want him to create turnovers, make tackles for losses, make plays that swing games on defense. I'm not saying that he's not a good player, because I think he is. I'm just not sure that I would have him (ranked) inside my top 20 players this season. I still think he will end up being a safety who plays in the box. I don't think he's a linebacker." -- AFC South scout on Michigan LB Jabrill Peppers

"Lamar Jackson is the best player in the country, bar none. People can try to pick at him if they want, but let them try to stop him and then get back with me and tell me what you think. I would much rather go against guys like (Miami's Brad) Kaaya, (Clemson's Deshaun) Watson or one of those other guys over having to deal with Jackson." -- Linebackers coach for Power Five team on the Louisville QB

"I'm really coming around on Luke Falk. He's a little skinnier than you want, but he can sling it and he's got some courage. I had him equal with a group of quarterbacks headed into the year. He's starting to separate himself." -- Director of college scouting on the Washington State QB

"I can't wait to find out the behind the scenes stuff because something isn't right. I thought he was going to be the breakout star but he's not even the best running back at Tennessee now. I think he's still a middle-rounder if he came out (for the NFL draft) this year, but I don't get the idea of switching positions at another school. That's a decision you let an NFL team make." -- NFC personnel executive regarding Jalen Hurd's intention to transfer and reported desire to change positions from running back to wide receiver or tight end.

OJ Howard is arguably the best tight end in the class,” said one AFC area scout, who compared his ability to Jimmy Graham’s. “His upside and potential are great. A very, very good athlete who’s still learning the tricks of the trade. He’s also a better blocker than people give him credit for.”

The following quotes are from the PFW Draft Guide featuring Greg Gabriel on newstands now.

Quote:
"There is no consensus as to who is 1, 2, or . You could ask five clubs and get five different answers."

Quote:
Kizer can start for many teams right away. Not many have his traits"

Quote:
"If you look at just this year O cam see why some would be down on Kizer but with QB's you have to look at every game they started. Kizer was outstanding in 2015."

Quote:
"People keep trying to compare Watson to Griffin and it's not close. Watson played in a more sophisticated offense and got the title game twice."

Quote:
"Trubisky has a lot of talent but being a one year starter is scary. Not many have succeeded with only one year starting experience."

Quote:
"He doesn't have the hype some others do but the kid I like the most at the next level is Peterman."

Quote:
"I thought Kaaya would come on and be special this year. Instead he regressed. I really lowered my grade."

Quote:
" I don't know why Evans came out. He clearly isn't ready for the NFL."

Quote:
"Best RB class in years. Many talented players who are ready to step in and start."

Quote:
"It wouldn't surprise me if Mixon goes undrafted. That video did him in. Awfully hard to meet the media after you draft him."

Quote:
"I love the way Jamaal Williams runs inside but he puts the ball on the ground too much. If he doesn't fix that he won't play."

Quote:
"Mixon is going to be a hard sell, but the fact that the incident happened two years ago, he has for the most part stayed out of trouble, apologized and taken responsibility and would otherwise be a late 1st/early second pick. Going to get picked late day 2 or early day three, call it the Tyreek Hill effect."

Quote:
"Can't find anything not to like with Fournette but I am more troubled by the perception that he may have spent most of this season protecting himself than I am bothered by him skipping the bowl game."

Quote:
"Every time I put Fournette and Cook side by side I come away thinking Cook will prove to be the higher impact guy in our league. The kids burst is unbelievable."

Quote:
"Westbrook has a frame like Will Fuller and did Fuller did nothing after the first three games. Throw in some character concerns and he might slip down boards. Ours for sure."

Quote:
"Before the senior bowl Kupp was the best WR nobody knew of and now he's a 2nd round pick."

Quote:
"Davis and Galloway might be the best two WR's the MAC has had in the same year. Both are big, fast, productive, Davis has a chance to become a great NFL player."

Quote:
"I have no doubt Mike Williams will be a great contested ball catcher on day one but do we know much about his route-running?He's a good enough athlete that there's no way I will drop him out of the first round, but I struggle to rank him as high as some because of the limited routes ran at Clemson."

Quote:
"I don't care what conference Davis played in or who he played against. That kid is a stud. Size, speed, want to, there's nothing missing. He's the top receiver on my board."

Quote:
"Hodges is fast and gets open but he has drops and won't block. He has to be a blocker to play for us."

Quote:
"Yes Njoku is wrong and has to learn how to block, but he is going to be the best TE in this class. He has WR skills."

Quote:
"Just give Saubert some time to adjust to the speed oand talent in the NFL and he will be fine. I can see him starting in another year."

Quote:
"There aren't a lot of TE's but there are some really good ones. You can find a receiver type or a blocker."

Quote:
"Not arguing that this isn't the best group of TE's in a while but why do they look like a bunch of over-sized receivers to me? Other than Butt and Sprinkle I just don't see a lot of kids here who know how to block and too many of them don't appear to want to."

Quote:
"Njoku is a flat-out freak of an athlete. As much as I love Howard I think Njoku will have the bigger impact when both are ready to go."

Quote:
"I get why Howard is the better prospect but I thought Leggett was the best player in the championship game."

Quote:
"Robert hasn't reached his potential. There are times when he doesn't go all out. When he wants to play he is outstanding."

Quote:
"Garcia needs to get bigger, but my is he talented."

Quote:
"Bolles will go in the first this year but he would not have been a first rounder in any of the last 4-5 drafts."

Quote:
"Bolles is light in the [inappropriate/removed] and doesn't always play with bend."

Quote:
"Rod Johnson doesn't play hard, isn't strong, poor footwork, I don't understand how people like him."

Quote:
"Dawkins has enough ability to play right tackle. He's big, massive and powerful."

Quote:
"Davenport will have a chance. He's a left tackle project. Real good feet and athleticism. Needs to get stronger."

Quote:
"Robinson for me is the toughest puzzle in this draft. Measurables are as good as any tackle in years and at times he played to them. I just wish he had a better feel for the off-field stuff."

Quote:
"Freeney will be a starter at guard or center the day he signs his contract. Love his toughness."

Quote:
"Jordan Morgan finishes with some nasty."

Quote:
"Ohio State did the right thing moving Elflein to center. He can start at either position as a rookie but that added versatility gives him more value."

Quote:
"This is a tough group at center because unlike last year with Kelly at Alabama there is nobody who jumps out at you and says I'm a guy you have to have. Pocic is interesting guy but I'm not sure he's a center and I like the Clemson kid but he's an all effort guy who may struggle with the step up in class."

Quote:
"Fuller looks like a guy who can play in the league but is he a center or a guard? Not sure where he'll end up but he looks like the kind of kid like to work with and I think we could find a spot for him on the roster."

Quote:
"Jarron Jones had a few games where he really looked good but the rest of the season was poor. I wonder if he really likes to play. He might be a better offensive tackle."

Quote:
"I thought Vanderdoes after his freshman year that he was going to be a top guy but after his injuries he looks very average. If he can regain that old form some team will get a bargain."

Quote:
"Tim Williams had some character concerns early on. If he stays the course he could become a pro-bowler."

Quote:
"If everyone played with the same intensity as McKinley does it would be easy to scout players."

Quote:
"The draft analysts have Solomon Thomas as a top-10. He had a big bowl game but the rest of the tape isn't like that. They figure he's about 6'2". He's a first rounder but not a top-10 guy."

Quote:
"If you watch Barnett and Garrett against Robinson. Barnett clearly is the better player. But you have to watch more than one game."

Quote:
"No doubt Watt is a good player but he will get over-drafted because some club will think they are drafting his older brother."

Quote:
"Wherever Taco gets drafted, he will be a bargain. He is just beginning to understand his own talent."

Quote:
"He won't be a high pick but I'm telling you Hendrickson can play.I liked him before the Shrine game but after watching him there I was so impressed I went back and watched some more tap and realized I had to move him up a round or two at least. Keep an eye on him, somebody is going to get lucky there."

Quote:
"Humphrey is physical and will run real fast but I don't trust his ball skills."

Quote:
"I like Rasul Douglas, he can start for us right away."

Quote:
"Sid Jones' coverage skills are as good as any corner in the draft, but he has to become a more physical and tackle better."

Quote:
"For my money Quincy Wilson is the best corner in the draft. His all-around game is tough to beat."

Quote:
"Stribling is small and he doesn't have speed but he has the best ball skills of any corner in the draft."

Quote:
"Is it just me or do the corners coming out of school get better every year? There are at least five and maybe seven first rounders in this group."

Quote:
"Jourdan Lewis is a football player. My boss told me he didn't have enough speed to make up for his lack of size and I said let's look at a little more tape together. When we were done he asked me when his pro day was and not to miss it. Forget his size, the kid can cover."

Quote:
"Some say Peppers has poor ball skills. Are they nuts? Have you seen the way he adjusts to passes and punts? He catches the ball cleanly."

Quote:
"I have never heard of St. Francis before. It's out in the middle of nowhere but it's a great stop because Lorenzo Jerome can play."

Quote:
"I hope Hookers surgeries went well because he is the best safety in the last ten years. Maybe he'll fall to us now."

Quote:
"I hope everyone keeps arguing about Peppers and Hooker because I think Jamal Adams is the best since Berry came out. If Adams falls to us I could end up with a bonus and a raise."

Quote:
You know it's funny, as much as I love the big three, if Baker was 2 inches taller and 15 pounds bigger he's be the consensus top safety. Unfortunately he isn't but I'll still beg my guys to take him if he's there when we come up in the second round."

"Jabrill Peppers is a bigger, more explosive version of Tyrann Mathieu." -- NFC executive on the Michigan LB/DB
Mathieu was always around the ball at LSU. Always. He was the ultimate playmaker. Peppers hasn't shown that ability.

Added a few dozen scout quotes from a Bob McGinn article that dropped today. They're at the top of the OP. Have fun.

No problem. Should be a pretty epic list by the end of April.

Good work Calhoun.

Haven't read them all yet, but Bolles as the best OT in the country AND it not being close?

Good work Calhoun.

Haven't read them all yet, but Bolles as the best OT in the country AND it not being close?

There is one anti-Bolles quote in there too.

Lawson and McCaffrey takes are spot on.

McCaffrey isn't a 1st round player. Lawson can be a good pass rusher and can definitely compare to the guys they mentioned.

Mathieu was always around the ball at LSU. Always. He was the ultimate playmaker. Peppers hasn't shown that ability.

The only reason Peppers is even being mentioned now is because of his hype. 1 sack, 4.5 TFL and 1 INT in his last 9 games isn't exactly 1st day material

We've had debates about Peppers in about three threads now. Let's try to keep that stuff out of here. Pretty please.

Great thread.

This should be fun as the offseason progresses but also to look back on at all the comments that end up being dead wrong.

Thanks for doing this. BTW, you may want to add Marlon Humphrey to the quote about most complete corner, as there isn't a name in the quote
