Godser. Cherilus.

This clown...what an abomination. Horrific performance tonight. Damn shame that it took us so long to bench him for Wester. His whiff on Sims screen was pathetic and his pass protection for most of the game was even worse.

It's amazing that we only lost by 6. We hung in there but barely.

Gosder Cherilus folks

There's the ball game right there. Unbelievable, a pro could get abused in one game like that by one player. No QB is going to play well, getting hit that many times, ridiculous. There is just no reason to activate him the rest of the year, even if Dotson is out. Can Wester or Benenoch be that much worse?

Actually, the only teams that beat us in strength of schedule are Atlanta, New Orleans, LA, San Fran, and Seattle. So that helps.

Which also means we've had the sixth hardest schedule in the NFL this year.

Man I STILL cannot get over how bad Gosder Cherilus played.
We get a screen going against their blitz and he could not block a flipping safety
Then this dude cannot block with a running back helping him. Like saying he can't block is an under statement, how many times did he get knocked on his back?

We need to cut him this offseason. Screw keeping him around for "depth". Dude does not belong in the NFL.

He's done here after that. Dotson will be kept for depth and I hope we draft a RT.

I'm starting to think we'll have an offense focused draft. I'd like a new safety and Dline depth, but outside of Evans, there isn't much at the skill positions that can't be upgraded.

I like it.

QB, RB, and TE are the only spots we don't need to worry about a whole lot.

I'll sit through another defensive performance like this next year if we're scoring 30 points every week.

I'm worried about RB right now.

Martin hasn't done anything this season and has a dreadful ypc average, even compared to other backs on the team. It makes 2012 and 2015 feel like outliers rather than the norm.

Sims bugs me as a runner as he dances too much in the backfield and just needs to hit the hole.

I'm not saying we should draft a running back highly, but we should consider our options in FA and in later rounds. Having Martin in a rotation, Sims as the third down back and Barber as the short yardage back seems like a good place to start.

I've thought about the RB position a lot. This year in particular, there has been a lot more interior penetration then last year. The combo of Hawley and Pamphile gets pushed around a lot more. Pamphile is an equal with Mankins on pass protection, but Mankins played with more power.

They could mask some of the issues at RT if the interior was solidified and allowed Winston to step up. I would be surprised if Hawley comes back as the starter.

It was night and day between the Cowboys and Bucs line. There's no way they don't bring back Sweezy into training camp and at least see if he has anything left.

I think we can see why Sweezey was brought in to play LG given how much difficulty we've had running up the middle.

I think we should invest more draft picks in this line and get the best 5 out there. I like Hawley, he's a leader on the line and seems like a good dude, but he's not the long term answer. I'd have him on the team, just not as a starter.

I know Licht said back when we drafted him that the ultimate plan for Marpet was centre and that discussion has been had on here already, so no point in going back over that. I just wonder whether an interior line of Pamphile Marpet and Sweezey is better than what we have now.

I'd draft a centre if we have the chance and pick up a RT in fa. I'd also consider moving Pamphile to the swing tackle spot and using Benenoch as the interior line depth behind Hawley. Get Evan Smith and Cherilus off the team, bring Sweezey, fa and draft pick onto the roster and you'll probably get rid of Wester to get you down to the same number we have now.

We aren't far away. We just need to let the talent we have develop and bring more talent in to replace the older guys.

Not a huge Booger fan to be honest, but he makes a good point.

Cherilus is done after this season.

If Carolina can pull off the win tonight, we're still the sixth seed. So all hope is not lost. But it's more grim than it was four hours ago.

Buc Ball,

I do like the idea of moving Pamphile back outside. Let Dotson and him battle it out at RT. Benenoch is probably their biggest olineman. They have some young olineman I'm intrigued with also Gottschalk and certainly I'm not opposed to drafting one.

I'm willing to overspend in FA at WR. They need to make teams pay for doubling Evans

The Peweter Report crowd never fails to make me laugh, Gosder Cheriless comments:
Quote:
He would have been more effective if he got on his knees and barked like a dog… holy mother of god, waive him

You know there are unemployed linemen at home watching this game tonight saying WTF

He makes Kenyatta Walker look like Anthony Munez. Seriously. He’s that bad. Good god, please drop him off in Siberia or something.

Alshon Jeffery for 12 or so games a year is a million times better than what we have.

Moving Pamphile back outside and not picking up a RT in FA is an option.

It frees up a space for Gottschalk though from the limited play we've seen from him, I wasn't overly impressed. He certainly looked better than Benenoch, but he's had more time in the offence and isn't as good an athlete either. He's also not been very durable over his career.

I can see him being a practice squad player if he's still eligible.

What ever happened to J. R. Sweezy? Are the coaches deciding to say f*** it and letting him have the whole year to recover? If so I am cool with that, my only concern is can this guy play football still? Like we don't have another Carl Nicks or Arron Sears on our hands right?
