A big part of this is because of the guy we put a second round tender on. Hopefully we hang onto him. I don't see anybody giving up a 2nd for him.

Personally, I'd rather re-sign Zach Line and use him as the power back to replace Asiata. Line being moved to fullback is just one of the dumbest things I can remember.

Really, I think we can get that production out of Ham, who is younger, has less miles, and we don't know his ceiling yet. I don't mind Line, but I don't know how he would preform as a RB honestly, though I do think the power back role can also fill the FB void in tandem with Ellison (if re-signed).

Jeremy Kerley is a better WR than what Patterson has been has just signed a 3 yr. 10.5M contract.

3.5M/Year

With Patterson's return ability I wouldn't predict he is worth much more than 5M, but we will see.

From what I'm hearing Kalil, from someone who talked to him in the Cities last night, look for him to get a contract signed March 9th. Said, "he doesn't want to play anywhere else.", came back to the cities for contract talks.

Just confirming to what is buzzing around twitter.

Panthers are going to go after OT Matt Kalil and CB Captain Munnerlyn. Bill Voth, the most reliable Panthers reporter, says they are almost 100% certain to sign here. He says he feels pretty strongly that Carolina will sign DE Julius Peppers as well, though less sure than the other two.

Dave Gettleman said the other day that he wants to re-sign WR Ted Ginn and DE Charles Johnson.

Not very exciting but we could have a lot of reunions with Peppers and Captain coming back and the Kalil bros teaming up.

I'm sure they plan on going after him if he actually hit's free agency.
He's in the cities right now to talk contracts. Wants to be here, but I wouldn't be surprised if our numbers don't match up.

I just wouldn't be surprised if he is one of the first signed players for us.

I've read some things on Twitter as well from one of the Vikings fans I follow. Supposedly he knows Kalil personally and more or less said the same thing you said about him wanting to stay here and sign a contract. He posted it a week or so ago.

I really, really want Kalil to succeed here. We are starting to get too many UCLA players for my liking!

Charles Robinson via twitter
Multiple #NFL sources are expecting the free agent contract of #Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson to exceed $4 million per season.

$5M seems about right. I'm bringing him back for that.

While not specifically in regards to the Vikings, here is a video regarding when LaDainian was courted by the Vikings.

He made it sound like if Favre had commited to play he would've gone to the Vikings. Man I wish he would've come

oh LaDainian, good gawd... Rolling Eyes

the reason he signed in NYC, and he said it at the time, was that his wife pressured him to because they made significantly more $$ off of local endorsements.

jeeez... it was about money.

It usually is about the money.

With most of the free agency frenzy in the books and the 2017 NFL Draft on the horizon, let's identify one favorite and one top contender in each division. Sixteen NFL teams with sweet potential.

NFC NORTH
Favorite: Green Bay Packers

Truth be told, I loathe the Packers' typical offseason approach. OK, yes, Ted Thompson made a great upgrade by signing Martellus Bennett to replace Jared Cook. But for the rest of free agency, he's been asleep at the wheel, as per usual.

Top contender: Detroit Lions

The Lions have the makings of their best offensive line in years. Now the Lions can focus on the running back position to make the offense really hum.

We have them right where we want them.
