Hey all... just wondering if the Pats were to trade Jimmy G, what do you think the asking price would be?

1st round pick is the starting point.

Do you think he is moved this off-season no matter what? Or are there scenarios in which you see him returning and then getting franchised?

I have no idea. It depends on how the team evaluates Brady's ability to keep playing at a high level past 2017.

I wouldn't be surprised with teams like Chicago and SF that it starts with their second and mid rounders. I don't think we're getting a high first back.

Then move on to teams like Cleveland (with the Eagles pick) or Houston or the Cardinals.

Frankly, if I'm Belichick/Caserio I'm 100% adamant on the first round pick, just to make a point to the ownership (who almost certainly backed the Ballghazi penalties) that I won in the end.

Is there any chance, and I know it'd be slim at best, that Belichick can fleece multiple "good" picks out of a needy GM?

Like get a 1st, 2nd, maybe a 4th/5th the next year?

Varies.

A second round pick from a team like San Fran, Chicago, Cleveland I think would be hard to turn down as we all know Bill having multiple picks in the top 50-60 picks is sometimes more handy than trying to fleece a team for a higher pick which is extremely unlikely.

Were not getting a first for him as the teams that would take him aren't giving up a top 10 pick for him.

I would bet my lunch money he isn't a Patriot next year though.

Matt Cassel netted the 34th overall pick. If they can't improve on that with Garoppolo, they're getting hosed.

I would hope a first, or high 2nd + others.

Personally would ilke to see him go to Chicago, he's an Illinois native, went to college in Illlinois, and him being in the NFC would mean I could support him with a cleaner conscience.

IMO, he has shown enough to warrant an overpay by a QB needy team. Ideally, I'd like to see him in Chicago as well. The pieces are there for a quick turnaround.

Get back :
2017 first
Flip spots in the 2nd
A 3rd
And a 2 in 2018

Remember, teams tend to pay dearly for QBs

A former Browns and Patriots executive is talking up the possibility that the Browns and Patriots will make a trade for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the offseason. Mike Lombardi, a longtime friend and colleague of Patriots coach Bill Belichick who also served as G.M. of the Browns in 2013, said on FS1 that he thinks the trade would make sense for both teams.

Lombardi: “The next quarterback that’ll be the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback perhaps is Jimmy Garoppolo in New England. I think Cleveland understands, Hue Jackson specifically understands he needs a quarterback. I think they’ll be very aggressive. I think Jimmy Garoppolo’s on top of their list, and I think they’ll go hard after him.”

If there isn't a first involved I wouldn't make the trade. If you think there's any potential in him being a franchise guy he's worth a 1st rounder. And if a team only wants to offer a high second, move on.

Can't ignore the fact that Cassel played almost a full season and looked solid over 15 games.

Garoppolo has had like 6 good quarters.
