If you were the GM of the Browns, what would you do with their 2017 1st round draft picks?
Let's assume they will draft #1 overall and #9 overall in this scenario.

Do you take the top QB on your board with the #1 pick?

Do you take Myles Garrett?

Do you attempt to trade down for even more picks?

If you do take a QB #1 overall, who is the ideal pick at #9?
A RB for your #1 overall pick QB to hand the ball off to, like Fournett or Cook?
A WR for your #1 overall pick QB to throw to, like Williams or Davis?
A (hopefully) impact defensive player?

If you do end up taking Myles Garrett #1 overall, then who do you target at #9? Hope Kizer or Watson slides? Trade the pick for Jimmy G or some other vet QB? Use the pick on the best available player, regardless of position?

What's the best way, in your opinion, to get the Browns on the right track with these 2 picks?

This is where I tend to lean but I'd call Belichek about Jimmy G for #9 first and start there.

So you'd wait til round 2 to take a QB at the earliest? Or maybe see if BB will do Jimmy G for a 2nd (Granted it would be #33 overall) and some other pick(s)? Maybe #33 overall + Joe Thomas for Jimmy G?

Top 10 pick for Jimmy G is a little rich IMO. We have seen what happens when backup Pats QBs go onto other teams after having success in Bradys absence. If im the Browns I hold onto the two top 10s or make a trade down with the 2nd one and pile on a few more early picks and then maybe try trading one of those. Otherwise I stand pat and pick BPA.

Build the team up with as much talent as possible and see if you can get the QB they want in the process. Its going to be a several year rebuild so no need to sell too much this year to reach on a QB.

1. Garrett. End of story.

8-15. Adams - we have had the worst safeties in the league all year long. Ed Reynolds has become serviceable as a rookie and shows improvement weekly which is a good sign. Ibraheim Campbell and Kindred have been absolute garbage. Jordan Poyer should never see the field outside of special teams.

Robinson - Joe Thomas won't be around forever and our RT position can stand to be upgraded. Pasztor is better suited at guard. A line of Joe Thomas, Joel Bitonio, Erving/Greco/Drango fighting for a center spot, Pasztor and Cam Robinson is infinitely better than what we have now. When Joe retires, cam can hopefully play LT and Shon Coleman will be ready to start at RT.

Teez Tabor or a few other corners - Haden actually played well but we have handful of others that are not #1 or 2 corners. We need a #2 man cover corner that can generate turnovers. Jamar Taylor is currently our #2, just received an extension but is best suited as a nickel. Boddy-Calhoun has shown promise and deserves our #4 spot.

Deshone Kizer - They have spent an immense amount of time scouting him. I can see this being the pick and wouldn't be too mad. I have a feeling this will be the pick too Confused

I'd prefer Jamal Adams. Wish Hooker was coming out.

I don't Get the fascination with wjth Jimmy g

Draft Garrett at 1

Draft kizer ot Trub a team 9 or BPA If neither is there

You can't go into next year with Kessler and RG3 again

If you sign Glennon than that's different.

So a player who has shown a ton of positive traits in the NFL already and has a cheap contract for another year is not intriguing, but guys who have had small sample sizes in college, or are have serious flaws in their game but show "potential," are worth the same pick? Interesting.

As for the original question, you take Garrett and don't overthink it. They have some solid players in the front 7, and this would strengthen the unit significantly.

You don't like Watson, or you're assuming he's drafted between pick #2 and #8?

No Browns fans want Leonard Fournette or Dalvin Cook at #9? Too soon to use a 1st on a RB after Trent Richardson?

If I'm the Browns, I've taking Garrett #1, probably a CB at #9, and punting on QB until the 3th/4th round again.

I don't like Watson for us. Too small and inaccurate. I think he'd be a better fit if he was bigger he's just not a fit for the AFC North.

I'm also a huge fan of Kizer and I'm good with Trub.

I'm personally different from most other Browns posters because I got to watch a lot of ND football and I've become a believer in Kizer he just needs to be coached up.

I think both players offer physically and experience wise more than what Jimmy G has. He never played against power teams in college . Jimmy has only proved he can comeplete some passes and the preseason and he can't last 3 games. That's it Matt Cassel Josh Freeman and Derek Anderson proved more. I'm not trading anything but a conditional for that. I'm cool with a conditional 2018 4th that could be a second but he'd have to start and win games.

I would think the team that trades for Garoppolo would want McDaniels too. Unless they're a team with an already solid team and established HC.

when we stick with the run and don't abandon it early because we're behind by so much Crowell and Duke are at least serviceable
