Fisher is determined to start Keenum until we're officially eliminated from playoff contention. He'll succeed at that soon. Fisher clearly needs to go. His contract is up at the end of the year. Where do we go from here? I thought I'd put something together with some of our options:
Head Coaching Options
Current Coordinators:
Kyle Shanahan OC Falcons
Matt Patricia DC Patriots
Todd Haley OC Steelers
Anthony Lynn OC Bills
Jim Bob Cooter OC Lions
Josh McDaniels OC Patriots (*vomit*)
Jim Schwartz DC Eagles
Dave Toub ST Chiefs
John Fassel ST Rams

Current NFL Head Coaches:
Sean Payton HC Saints (highly unlikely)
Mike McCarthy HC Packers (unlikely)
John Fox HC Bears (No Thank You)
Mike McCoy HC Chargers (No Thank You)
Gus Bradley HC Jaguars (HELLLLLLL NO)
Chuck Pagano HC Colts (No)

Current College Coaches:
Jim Harbaugh HC Michigan (highly unlikely)

I'd love to get Payton, McCarthy, or Harbaugh, but I don't see it happening. Outside of them, I'd lean more towards an offensive-minded Head Coach with Matt Patricia being the only exception. I think Anthony Lynn is a very interesting name in addition to the obvious (Little Shanny, Haley, and Cooter). Lynn was on Head Coaching radars before taking over as OC this year in Buffalo. He's done an impressive job in Buffalo.

Players Slated to Hit Free Agency
Trumaine Johnson CB (re-sign)
T.J. McDonald SS (re-sign)
Kenny Britt (re-sign)
Brian Quick (re-sign)
Greg Zuerlein (re-sign)
Benny Cunningham (re-sign)
Ethan Westbrooks (re-sign)
Dominique Easley (re-sign)
Matt Longacre (re-sign)
Chase Reynolds (indifferent)
Cam Thomas (indifferent)
Louis Trinca-Pasat (indifferent)
Case Keenum (indifferent)

Release Candidates
Rodger Saffold OG (cut)
Eugene Sims DE (indifferent)
Tre Mason HB (cut)
Lance Kendricks TE (keep)
Tim Barnes C (indifferent)

Possible Free Agent Targets
J.C. Tretter C/OG Packers
Alshon Jeffery WR Bears (likely franchised or re-signed by Bears)
Captain Munnerlyn CB Vikings
Michael Floyd WR Cardinals (only if Britt and Quick walk)
Stephon Gilmore CB Bills (likely franchised or re-signed by Bills)
Morris Claiborne CB Cowboys
Ronald Leary OG Cowboys
T.J. Lang OG Packers
Melvin Ingram DE Chargers (likely stays with Chargers)
Chandler Jones DE Cardinals (likely franchised or re-signed by Cardinals)
Riley Reiff OT Lions (likely stays with Lions)
Kevin Zeitler OG Bengals (likely stays with Bengals)
Jerraud Powers CB Ravens (depth)
A.J. Bouye CB Texans
Terrelle Pryor WR Browns (Browns will find a way to keep him)
Josh Gordon WR Browns (I don't know if I'd want to deal with this headache)
Tony McDaniel DT Seahawks (depth)
Robert Alford CB Falcons (depth)
Larry Warford OG Lions (likely stays with Lions)
Terrance Williams WR Cowboys (if we lose Britt and Quick)
Markus Wheaton WR Steelers (see above)
Kayvon Webster CB Broncos (depth)
Logan Ryan CB Patriots

Tretter is a guy I'd really go after. I'd like to see him replace Barnes at Center for us.

Possible Position Changes
Greg Robinson LT -> OG
LaMarcus Joyner CB -> FS
Cody Wichmann OG -> C

I think that's good for now. I haven't really delved into the draft yet. What do you guys think? What coach are you most interested in?(keeping in mind who is a realistic option) What FAs are you interested in? What players would you re-sign? What players would you let walk?

Interesting idea. What does our cap space look like for next yeae? Just curious as it will determine what players are realistic.

As far as coaching goes...I'm doing whatever needs to be done to get little Shanny as our head coach. Next in line is JBC or Patricia. Lasy coaching option would be Jim Schwartz. We need to avoid Mcdaniels at all cost.

Man, if they fire Fisher my interest in this team skyrockets. Never have I seen a coach not care about winning. He'd rather the Rams go 0-16 than go 10-6 if it meant he would have his job next season. It's sickening and a disgrace to the Rams organization.

Dont know enough about the candidates you listed to give an opinion on who'd I would want as a replacement though.

Like seriously, I'm counting down the days until baseballs winter meetings. MLB is in its off-season and that has my interest more than this team in the middle of their season. Just such a stale atmosphere in the organization.

Before cuts, we have between $35 million and $45 million in cap space depending on where the salary cap is set at.

Donald should take 30 million off that.
Seriously lol.. I hate this team right now and
Barron's contract is woeful. I mentioned in the offseason he should
see 7 mil or something close! And people laughed at me said maybe 4-5 million! But no one ever saw 10+ lol he needs a restructure.

Our Lbs are too small and we get murked on the run.

Barron is getting paid $9 million a year. And he's earning every cent of it.

We actually haven't gotten murked by the run this year. We're ranked among the top 10 defenses in each of rushing yards allowed, rushing yards per carry allowed, and rushing TDs allowed.

Buffalo ran all over us...but that was the game that Brockers, Quinn, and Hayes were out. With those guys, our run defense is quite stout.

Austin is the guy under-performing his contract. We'll just have to hope Goff can solve that problem.

Plus, we have a crapload of cap room to use on re-signing Donald in 2018.(currently have $80+ million in available cap space)

One name I haven't heard mentioned a lot but I keep thinking about is the Saints OC. Pete Carmichael has been their OC for 8 years and before that he was their QB coach. He's worked with Payton on some damned good offenses. Just a thought.

I have a hard time hiring a guy to be the head coach who doesn't run his own unit. I would be good with giving him a shot at OC. But he'd need to prove himself as an OC outside of Payton's shadow imo. Nothing against him. Might be a great coach. But he's not proven enough for me.

Take it from me, our offense is a Sean Payton offense. Carmichael has called plays on a few different occasions (and all of 2012) and has filled in well I'd say, but that's all we've seen from him. Payton designs and runs the offense. He normally calls the plays. Carmichael is more an OC candidate for somewhere he'll get to run the offense than he is a HC candidate.

Jim Bob Cooter is the guy I want. He turned Stafford around so I have no doubt he'd be great for Goff's development. Plus, that name.

I agree with most of your re-signs with the exception that I may not want to keep both Britt and Quick. I think we have some young guys who can step up and play and would rather use that money to sure up our line (I know, our OL FA signings have never panned out).

Also, I'd sign Gordon.

I dont see Fisher going anywhere, but if he does Id LOVE to see Patricia as HC. The Bill Belichick coaching tree is typically a very successful one.

In terms of the roster, Saffold either needs to get cut or restructured. Barnes shouldnt be starting, and I dont like Wichmann either. Other than that, we gotta get the defense locked up because theyre the only reason this team is competitive. I would like to find another quality corner either via draft or FA. And maybe a SLB (Jarvis Jones from the Steelers?).

If Fisher does stay, he HAS TO find a NFL caliber Offensive Coordinator. Cycling through these random ones that have no proven offensive success. Id hate for Goff to learn yet another playbook, but it needs to be done because Boras is NOT the answer.
