Quote: | Big change in Baltimore: Ravens firing OC Marc Trestman, replacing him with Marty Mornhinweg, per league sources.
Adam Schefter, ESPN Senior Writer |
Uh... yay? Probably not. It's a change at least. I wonder if this is a Harbaugh move or Bisciotti move. From everything I've read the Cameron firing a few years ago was definitely the latter. Regardless we all better hope this significantly changes things.

Can confirm ravens have replaced OC Marc Trestman, under fire much of the season. Marty Morhinweg takes over, as ESPN reported |

Ravens will put a strong emphasis on maintaining balance on offense and sticking w/run game. And reinforcing downfield passing game... |
Quote: | Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora 8m8 minutes ago
Flacco 30th in yards per attempt, despite influx of speed to offense, and threw 102 times w/poor pass pr last 2 weeks vs. weak run defenses |

Mornhinweg will be Joe Flacco's fifth offensive coordinator in as many seasons. |
Quote: | Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m1 minute ago
There was internal frustration with play-calling & run-game handling by OC Marc Trestman. Ravens believe they have more than enough talent. |

Been saying for wks. Trestman was under fire. Bisciotti at practice all last wk sandwiched between poor offensive showings. Harbaugh had to |
Quote: | Jeff Zrebiec @jeffzrebiecsun 3m3 minutes ago
Harbaugh informed some of the team leaders of his decision this am. Mornhinweg will be OC rest of season. Will be re-evaluated from there. |
Hmm, that's encouraging.

Ravens pondered making OC change after last yr. But for continuity's sake and cause of all their injuries, they gave Trestman another shot |

Holy s*** !! At least something happened...
Let's hope this indeed leads to an added emphasis on run-game and play-action-deep-pass offense. |

Wow, didn't expect that. But that was a full Trestman game. The fact that we tried so few deep shots was just as important as the lack of rushing attempts, IMO.
But we fired an OC after a loss to that DC team. So, Superb owl? |

Just so everyone is clear, Mornhinweg's last stint as an offensive coordinator came with the Jets in 2013 and 2014. Those teams were 25th in yards/29th in points and 22nd in yards/28th in points respectively.
While the play calling will be different, don't put a ton of faith in it actually being good. Just decent would be an improvement though. And please get rid of those awful screens. Just rip those pages right out of the playbook. |

At least we'll get something different on offense that may work (as opposed to what we've had so far that clearly wasn't)
Hopefully the OLine can get healthy and actually protect long enough to allow a deep passing game to develop |

wasnt that the geno smith era though? Would be tough for any coordinator to do well there |

Not expecting a huge upgrade but it can't get worse honestly. I'd actually rather bring back Cam than to keep Trestman -- at least Cam liked to take some shots _________________

Well it is something. Seems like Trestman got af redshirt year last year based on all the injuries.
After wetting the bed with this weeks gameplan, I guess there really wasn't any excuse for Harbaugh, if he was sandwiched between Bisciotti and players.
I have very little confidence in Mornhinweg doing better. _________________ Ravens 2017 feat. Flaccid Flaccos speedsters and Dean Peas softies |

Careful now, Cameron is free after getting fired with Lew Miles at LSU. |

Yep. Check out the offensive skill positions he had to work with (especially in 2013) |

Hahahaha. This shouldnt have made me laugh this hard lol.
In all seriousness. I'm happy the move was made. Let's hope for a 5-2 record entering the bye week. Then tie [inappropriate/removed] in the standings coming off a bye. Excited for Sunday. I'll be making the trip from Toronto to be at the game. _________________ Ravens Nation. Enough Said |

#Ravens run zero crossing routes, no rubs, no pick plays. That is how you deal with man coverage. They faced the same coverage last week. |
Hopefully those plays are actually in the playbook. If not Mornhinweg has a lot of work to do in very little time preparing for different teams each week. |

So, assuming the offensive staff is going to be thoroughly evaluated and in most cases likely replaced when a different coordinator is brought in, here's who the Ravens currently have:
Offensive Coordinator - Marty Mornhinweg
Running Backs - Thomas Hammock
Wide Receivers - Bobby Engram
Tight Ends - Richard Angulo
Offensive Line - Juan Castillo
Assistant Offensive Line - Todd Washington
Senior Offensive Assistant - Craig Ver Steeg
Offensive Assistant - Matt Weiss
Offensive Assistant - Andy Bischoff
Who is worth keeping around? Hammock, Engram, and Angulo have had decent results with young players although if the Ravens get somebody with enough juice to bring in their own staff I wouldn't mind if those three were let go. Castillo and Washington can be shown the door regardless of what happens elsewhere. |
