Jamie Collins just got 4 years 50 million with 26 guaranteed. I wonder what Hicks will get if he keeps playing like has so far.

Mini Rage Stroke

I was on twitter tonight searching his name, because I'm a masochist.

Ian Wharton absolutely nailed it on Rowe.

He is a guy that has created something called Coverage Productivity which he has been doing the past couple years.

Here is how he describes it.

So, he watched quite a bit of Rowe's rookie year and thought he had potential.

This is what he said when rumors came out that Rowe was on the trading block.

Here is what he was saying when Rowe started to get a lot more playing time for New England.

Best thing / landing spot that ever could of happened for Eric Rowe. If they do win the SB he should send Howie and Schwartz a Thank You package for being an Idiot.

Jimmy Kempski wrote a piece about the Rowe trade yesterday that was pretty fair. He makes some good points and gives perspective.

BTW Ian Wharton (guy I just posted about) was responsible for grading cornerbacks for the NFL1000 project and this is how he had Rowe and Eagles players ranked out of 133 qualifying corners.

Quote:
Eric Rowe #27 (ahead of Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, Kareem Jackson, and Vontae Davis)

Ron Brooks #82

Nolan Carroll #86

Jalen Mills #109

Leodis McKelvin #113

Rowe had a ton of promise last year, and going into this year I was excited to see him. I keep saying it, but I dont know why Swartz didnt like him. Even if he didn't play well in the off-season you dont get rid of a 2nd rounder that played well in his rookie year.

Anyways, Im glad he went to the Patriots since I like them, but it does annoy me that the Eagles bailed on a promising 2nd year player.

The most interesting thing from that list IMO:

Lane Johnson #4
Jason Peters #6

....in the entire NFL
...not just OL

We have some severe issues evaluating talent in our front office.

And I still have reservations about Howie's personality. Trades he's made were great to get the franchise QB and to get back value for Bradford. But if it came down to wanting to clear out Chip guys, it would indicate that Howie is incapable of putting the best interests of the team first.

The explanation that the Pats made Rowe good is acceptable on the surface. But when you think about it, they developed him and put him in a situation to play really well. How incompetent is our coaching staff that they can't develop 2nd round talent into a serviceable starter while NE can? It isn't enough to say, "oh it's NE and they always develop good talent." We send guys away early without developing them so often. The standard shouldn't be, "well it was the Pats so it was ok."

This management is really frustrating.

If you go to the Pats board there are mixed reactions on Rowe. Some love him some hate him. Even the broadcast guys made it a point to say that if there's a guy to pick on in the secondary between Butler, Ryan and Rowe that it's clearly Rowe.

It'll be interesting to see the defensive assignments in the Super Bowl.

Rowe has the size you need to match up with Julio, but he's just not on that level.

Ryan has the physical ability to play press on Julio, but he can't turn and run with Julio.

Butler can run with anyone, but he may be too small to man up Julio.

That should be the case to be fair. Rowe has a lot less experience at corner. He played safety in high school and college until before his senior season when he got moved to corner. He is still learning and a work in progress.

To be fair to Rowe, I don't think there is anyone in the world who can match up with Julio Jones and expect to take everything away from him.

When he's healthy, you're setting up your defense around him.

Julio Jones will be double teamed most likely. Though Falcons are unlike other teams and dont just rely on Julio, so who knows.
