I asked a mod and they greenlighted this idea. I thought having conference threads would be a great idea, where we can talk about the games, expansion, recruiting and the happenings around the league.

We have a UT and a Baylor thread which are semi active, but other B12 schools need some love as well, ya feel? Wink

So anyways this is a general Big 12 thread. Feel free to post away.

Big 12 preseason poll:

1) Oklahoma (24)
2) TCU (2)
3) Oklahoma State
4) Baylor
5) Texas
6) Texas Tech
7) West Virginia
8) Kansas State
9) Iowa State
10) Kansas

I'll do my own later, but off the top of my head I think WVU is underrated. They finished 5th last year, and should be just as good if not better this year. It's a cliche but it really all depends on their QB play from Skyler Howard.

Who knows if this means anything, but this Jason Williams dude is a Cincinnati/Big 12 reporter.

If it is Cincy and Houston, what would the divisions look like?

If BYU is the #1 for the Big 12, why would a compromise exclude them? If they're compromising, they're going to 14 teams. Oklahoma gets Cincinnati, Texas gets Houston, and the Big 12 gets some one else.

When does anything the Big 12 does make sense?

If you're right and they do go to 4 teams, I hope that 4th team (along with BYU, Cincy and Houston) is either Colorado State or Memphis. CSU makes more sense geographically but Memphis has that elite basketball...

I like WVU's skill guys a lot but they lost basically their entire back 7, which was what made their D serviceable/good last year.

I wouldn't say the Big 12 did things wrong, in fact given the circumstances they did the best thing possible. The whole instability issue is because of Texas and to a lesser extent Oklahoma. The whole Longhorn Network debacle caused Texas A&M and Nebraska to leave, and had that not been a dealbreaker there is probably still a decent chance they'd still be in the Big 12. But even if that didn't change things, the fact that Oklahoma insisted on remaining tethered to Oklahoma State and Texas with Texas Tech, the Big 12 probably would have folded. Or at the very least been very watered down.

Texas Tech received a transfer today from former Arkansas safety/cornerback Willie Sykes.

He is a true sophomore who will redshirt this season and then have 3 years to play 3. He was a 3* in high school who chose Arkansas over offers from Nebraska, Washington State, Minnesota, Utah and others.

Potentially a big pick up for our 2017 squad.

The Big 12 season kicks off tonight with Kansas State-Stanford and Northwestern State-Baylor.

I think most people expect Stanford and Baylor to win (including myself), but a Kansas State upset would be big for the conference's reputation.
