Still need a 3&D wing (or two), seems like there is mutual interest in Bazemore but reports have him getting $18M+ on the FA market. Could get Evan Turner for a bit cheaper, but not as good a shooter as Baze.

Lakers summer league roster announced. As expected, Brandon Ingram, D'Angelo Russell, Larry Nance, Ivica Zubac, and Anthony Brown are all participating. Notable UDFA participating are Zach Auguste [Notre Dame] and Moustapha Fall [France]. Not totally sure why they insist on having 25+ year olds on the roster though...

Jordan Clarkson for $12.5m/yr was a good move. I still don't understand why they signed Mosgov to such a big deal though.

Moz can move pretty damn good for his size. His injury might ruin that aspect of his game. I wish him the best. He gave us attitude and effort every night. I think all Cavs fans agree on this: Solid contributor, but his health is scary.

I actually dont see any issue with Mozgov. Especially if the 4th year is a team option like Ive seen somewhere? Did they overpay? maybe but they are not out there still hoping to land a big guy, they have him in place and can now make other moves to improve the team.

but anyway, to the point, the Lakers needed a tough inside veteran presence. Mozgov will give them that. They needed a guy that will have these young guys back when everyone is trying to knock them on their a$$. I think it is a good move, and expect him to play well.

Good day for the Lakers IMO.

Center presence and Clarkson under Max value

I know this was said back in April.

Quote:
Cavaliers GM David Griffin said there is nothing wrong with Timofey Mozgov's knee.

"There is nothing wrong with the knee," Griffin said. "He's had no swelling, recurrent issues relative to the surgery. We have to almost throw him off the court after practice because he just wants to keep working. If you have issues with your knee, you would not do that."

From the ESPN article on his knee it definitely sounds like he was rushed back way too soon because he was in a contract year and that it did affect his play. Maybe he was healthy in late April when the Cavs GM said that, but it seems like he obviously wasn't for the majority of the year. I know a lot of his lack of playing time had to also do with Tristan Thompson just being a much better option at the 5, especially defensively on pick and rolls!

Hopefully Timmy can be healthy and produce close to what he did 2 years ago. Seems like Luke really likes him from the quotes I've seen.

Still not happy about this deal, but whoever we brought in we were going to have to overpay.[/quote]

This is what I'm waiting on. I need to see a reputable source report it. If there is a 4th year team option they might be able to move him after year 2 if he is decent. That would make the contract not as bad.

Mozgov's def FG% allowed at the rim:
2014: 47.2%
2015: 47.4%
2016: 48.5%
Keep him at the rim and not in space, he's really solid. #lakers

The bolded is like I said in the earlier post. Don't want him guarding the pick and roll really. Under the basket I don't really have much of an issue with him.

Looks like Luke won't be coaching Summer League.

I like that all our rookies from last year are going to be playing. Anthony Brown definitely needs to show something. He was a disappointment last year, but some of that is on Byron and making him play hardly any minutes to playing full games (when Kobe was out). There was no consistency. I'm obviously pretty excited to see Ingram, but I might be looking more forward to seeing Zubac play. I'm glad he is able to participate in SL. Want to see his move and how his conditioning looks right now. He might be getting a good amount of minutes. Auguste has an outside shot to make the team it sounds like. Good pick and roll guy which should at least be fun in SL with Russell.

G - DeAngelo Russell
G - Anthony Brown
F - Brandon Ingram
F - Larry Nance Jr.
C - Ivica Zubac

That could win the summer league.

You just drafted a guy with the potential to be an elite scorer in Ingram. Y'all just have to be patient and hope that Russell and Ingram can develop into good players.
