^Gretzky admits to drafting a 3rd liner in the first round

Gretzky is commonly blamed for the garbage prospect pool that the Coyotes had 8 years ago, I.E. when Lucas Lessio was one of our top prospects. I think it's a garbage hire is what I'm saying

Oilers pluck Keith Gretzky from the Bruins and name him AGM. Great move for Edmonton. Guy can draft.

Gretzky had a scouting role on the Bruins. The Seguin trade premise is on Cam Neely. The terrible return is on Chiarelli. Frederic aside, the Bruins drafting success recently didn't start until Gretzky was given a larger role in the scouting department.

Patrick Roy resigns from the Avalanche.

Timing is a bit odd for Roy to resign now. Did seems like the Avs needed more structure in their game then what Roy was doing with them.

The short list gets more official:
Toronto
Pittsburgh
Boston
New Jersey
New York Islanders

all scheduled to meet with him today.

According to his agent the earliest he will sign is Thursday or Friday but he doesn't expect to take into next week.

Please let Vesey sign with the Leafs.

Oh that would be so amazing.

"Mr. Vesey, how would you like to join the Pittsburgh Penguins"

"Mr. Rutherford; what are your reasons for why I should?"

*Lemieux, enters the room with Crosby and Malkin behind him*

"Okay, so $925,000 for the first two years was the deal, right?"

According to Bob McKenzie's twitter account, Jimmy Vesey watch is over. He has decided to sign with the Rangers. I don't think he has as high an upside as a few of the more recent college FAs, but he should project to be a solid forward and we get him for an entry level cost. He'll slot in on our 3rd line more than likely and hopefully shift Tanner Glass out of the lineup once and for all. That alone would make it worth it Laughing . Certainly happy about this.

Also, Flames re-signed Sean Monahan to a 8 year deal with about $6.3M AAV. Comparable to Scheifele, Barkov, and MacKinnon's new deals. Great job by the Flames. Now they need to re-sign Gaudreau.

I'm not all that upset that he didn't sign with the Devils as we have a plethora of LW players. He's a highly sought after player but we don't even really know if he's better than some of our other unproven, young internal options. It's always nice to add assets but I don't think we'll sweat it.

Then again, I'm still on that Taylor Hall high. Laughing

Alex Pietrangelo will be the next Captain of the St. Louis Blues. Well deserved.

Alex Steen has signed an extension for the Blues for 4 years, $23M. Will take him to age 36. He's developed into one of the better two way forwards in the league since coming to the Blues and is a core player on their team.

Flames still waiting on Johnny Hockey.
