I saw an average athlete who often got caught guessing and ran himself out of plays. I also didn't see this great "finisher" some have mentioned. I watched him in a couple games but only evaluated him snap by snap vs Alabama. Was he injured or overtrained or what? Great body, but no pop or twitch to him.
If that is your take on him I do not see what you are watching. He has tons of pop and twitch athletically and can really lay people out. Sure he has work to do but he really stood out to me and was by far their best linebacker last year I felt. I do not view him as an average athlete at all. Was not on my radar before last season, so he did not standout as a freshman or sophomore so kind of came out of nowhere in that regard.

In terms of senior linebackers he is right up there at OLB I feel. Not many ahead of him right now.

Agreed. I don't know what else you can expect out of a guy playing barely 230 pounds and running the defense his first year. His tape was above average. His highlights were impressive. He flashed more than enough for me. Hopefully he'll be 235+ this year. Thinking less. He's a guy; for sure.

Seems you guys don't know of NDST LB Nick DeLuca. He is 6'3 239ish and is the closest thing to Kuechly that I've seen since the original. He has the fastest zone drop that I've ever seen. He is a perfect Cover 2 player who can take away TEs in the passing game. Strong against the run and is a solid tackler. Has nice hands to snatch the ball out the air. I will take him over any MLB in the upcoming draft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8IC6QP4NHc&spfreload=10

Certainly versatile and has fluid hips. Not bad at reading plays. But he's not Kuechly. I am not seeing this guy drop his hips and explode towards plays to break them up, he also does not play with the same type of power that Kuechly has. I would say he is closer to Sean Lee at this point then Keuchly.

No way, man. Totally overselling him.

A few things:

Rashaan Evans is very good.

Vince Beigel is not.

Azeem Victor is a major sleeper.

Maybe it was a bad game, but I watched the latest Anthony Walker cut on DB and had to turn it off within 5 minutes

I shot down some Twitter hype on him recently.

Small, nice quickness but no power/strength or explosion. Day 3 pick as a special teamer and back end of the roster LB candidate.

Vince Biegel bad? He's similar to Schobert but longer and better burst. I don't see a first rounder but this guy could be above average.

Rashaan Evans is super quick and finishes tackles, he looks pretty small though? Good player regardless.

Evans is a WLB in a 4-3 front IMO. He's a free flowing LB that can chase down anybody. Not really a true pass rusher, but not really a thumping ILB either. I still like him a lot.

I also don't like Biegel. He is not better than Schobert. He's stiff and doesn't have any real dangerous pass rush move. His rip, swim, and bull rush are all average at best. As he moves up to the NFL, these average skills will become well below the mean.

Zimmer raved about Eric Kendricks progress from rookie year: "It was like he had too much coffee to drink, and now he's settled down."

This is how I feel about Jarrad Davis this year.
