Everything I've seen/read suggests a 40 between 4.6-4.7 for Howard. I figured Njoku would run in the 4.5's. Am I off there?

I'm not expecting for Howard to run a good 3-cone, but we'll see. I value 3-cone above all else for most positions, but particularly for tight end. If Howard goes under 7.2, I'd give him my stamp of approval in the top 15.

It'll definitely be close to the 4.5s but I think Howard comes close as well. I just don't want anybody disappointed if he doesn't run under a 4.6 Laughing

Looks like I was way off. Mistook Njoku's short-area burst for speed. Howard ran faster than I expected, too. I still prefer Njoku as an athlete.

Uhm... 4.6 for a tight end is still plenty fast. He can get deep at that speed, college or pro.

This is a really special TE class, and we shouldn't judge these guys' worth solely against each other.

Let's talk George Kittle. He absolutely blew up the Combine in terms of his measurables. The guy is a really good blocker. Where does he go in the draft? Right now, I see him rated as a 7th rounder. But I just don't buy that.

I'm not sure that Kittle is sudden and graceful enough to be a major receiving threat, but he has the blocking ability and athleticism to be a solid all around TE.

His effort in blocking is top notch. I'd like to see him gain 5-7 pounds of muscle.

Jonnu Smith, Bucky Hodges, Evan Engram, and David Njoku all tested in the top 7% or better. Kittle hasn't been tallied, because he didn't do either of the agility drills, but he'll probably be in that group, too.

Could go any time on Day 3. The League does not respect that role much anymore.

I like. The Bull may pull that trigger.

Is nobody else concerned about OJ Howard going up and win the football in contested situations? It's criticism on a high level, since he is probably one of the best TE prospects ever.

His vertical at the combine shows that he isn't an explosive leaper. In theory his height and long arms should be enough to outmuscle most defenders. It could be an issue of usage at Bama too, since they used him more as a mismatch in space than anything else. General usage in passing game was very low too for such a great athlete.

What concerns me so much is that there isn't even a single contested catch he's made. He made some catches in tight coverage, although that's more about his ability to seperate from sticky coverage. But speaking of high pointing contested catches, there are a few occasions where he loses out on these jumballs. Even at the Senior Bowl they didn't test his ability at the catch point, which I think was the only question mark about him. Smaller TEs like Engram or less polished prospects like Njoku or Hodges have shown the ability to outmuscle defenders at the catch point numerous times.

When it's all said and done, I think OJ Howard turns out to be a more consistent version of Jared Cook, and one of the elite TEs in the NFL. But I don't see him becoming the next Gronk.

I still want Njoku at 20 deep down in my heart although I doubt we get him so I've moved my expectations onto OT, Mccaffrey or Reddick. He's well spoken, he comes from a successful family, he is a beast on the field. I don't see him failing.
