Anyone else like Toledo TE Michael Roberts? I think he's a better version of C.J. Fiedorowicz, and his hands are the size of most peoples feet.

More like Dion Sims

You can't watch those games and tell me he's not giving effort while blocking. Screw what Zierlein says, he's just a talking head to pump out articles at this point, think for yourself here. Roberts absolutely is giving good effort while blocking. You're going to have to dig up some examples because I certainly didn't see that when watching him. I saw a guy who gave great effort and would block guys down the field, block guys to the ground, come back to the play to block someone, and run full on into a lineman or linebacker if he needed to. He's not perfect, but to question his attitude and effort? Ridiculous.

We all had to make compromises on our Not Mock Draft team.

It's very clear on film. There are plays where he's interested and blocks like a 6'4" 260 pound TE should. There are plays where he clearly is mailing it in.

Agreed.

I did watch those games, and that's exactly what I'm telling you. BleedTheClock, Calhoun, and Zierlein have all seen the same thing. Don't make the implication that I'm just going on what Zierlein said. I wrote this two weeks ago about Roberts:
Quote:
Roberts is a very intriguing kid because he's 6'4" 260 with 11.625 inch hands. He also posted 16 receiving TDs in 2016 for Toledo and has the potential to be a major red-zone mismatch. Obviously, Roberts possesses strong hands and good athleticism for his size. He has the potential to be a good pass-catcher in the NFL. The real issue with him right now is that he doesn't show consistent effort as a blocker. When Roberts wants to block, he has shown that he has the strength and size to be effective as an inline blocker. But he too often just half-arses it and more or less gets in the way of the defender while not trying to do much else. NFL teams don't have much patience for disinterested blockers. Roberts has a high ceiling, but he'll need to develop a better attitude to reach it.

(I'd also like to add that Roberts need to significantly improve as a route runner if he wants to become a receiving threat in the NFL)

I'll give you a few examples:
http://gph.is/2laAgmi
http://gph.is/2laxDkl
http://gph.is/2lkdNlb

There are many more examples. It's so easy to tell when Roberts is trying and when he isn't. When he's trying, he explodes off the ball, engages with the defender, and drives his legs through contact. He looks to drive his defender off the ball and often succeeds. When he isn't trying, he comes off the ball lethargically, he jogs to the guy he has to block, and he just looks to get between him and the runner. He extends his arms, grabs him, and then kind of stands there. If the guy gets around him, he halfheartedly chases after him or quits on the play. Here's an example of Roberts blocking for real:

We can both see the clear differences in effort between the play above and the three earlier plays that I posted.

That's not true. I only pay BleedTheClock and Zierlein. You do it for free. Wink

The Scott Chandler comparison for Adam Shaheen just got stronger with that weigh in. Height/weight is almost identical, Shaheen just a little heavier.

There's no need to be sexual about it.

There's no need for you to make it sexual.

Are RB 3-cone numbers out yet? I really get off when I see guys get under 6.9 seconds.

Howard probably beats Njoku in the 40(barely) but I expect Njoku to win everything else. The jumps are going to be amazing.
