Alexander is competitive and hot-headed but I have a hard time seeing him being arrogant on this defense with these vets and coaches around him. He'd get put in his place real quick by Greenway, Newman, Robison, Smith, Barr, Griffen, Zimmer, Gray, etc.

He'll be fine.

If Zimmer can keep Adam Jones in line, Alexander will be no problem.

According to PFF, Alexander was the 5th best pick in the entire draft.

And we thought that Mackenzie was the loud one...apparently, he has a twin brother, Mackenro...

Sounds like anyone that a fan of the late-70s, early 80's era of tennis would know?

Easy to see how he fits into this team from an off the field perspective.

This was not a pick that I was expecting the Vikings to make. But I'm not disappointed by the pick. I think that it gives the Vikings a lot of depth at the CB position.

I was surprised too. Expected a safety who would have to compete for playing time their rookie year on defense or stand out on ST.

But I don't mind the pick at all. We have our answer at NCB for the future.

New Vikings cornerback Mackensie Alexander, selected with the 54th-overall pick in Friday’s second round, doesn’t lack in confidence. The 22-year-old declared himself the best cornerback at the scouting combine, and he didn’t dwell on the fact he was the seventh cornerback taken.

Alexander: “I’m past that. I move on quick. At the cornerback position you have to be able to eliminate thoughts and just play ball. I have high expectations for myself, so I wouldn’t necessarily be cool with [being a backup at first]. I feel like they’re bring me up here to play and do a job. I’m up for it. I’m going to be as tuned in as possible, sitting behind the coaching staff, sitting behind Newman, sitting behind guys that have played and know what to do. I just want to make it the best rookie year I can have.”

Looks like he definitely fits the "high character" profile that Spielman loves

This guy is such a great story. I have a man crush on him. Rags to riches and got there by out working anyone in front of him.

It's not because I don't want Wanyes to succeed. I do but I want Alexander to be our shut down corner if he can / top corner. Even over Rhodes.

His animation would be fun on game days as long as it draws no yellow flags.
I love a guy who describes his workouts as sick.

I would really love for Rhodes, Waynes, and Alexander to be a shut down trio for years to come.

With Smith lurking back there too? Sign me up!

:Edit: I had no idea who this guy is, but after watching his interview I have high hopes for him, I like his attitude.

I thought it was interesting that his draft card listed him as a DB instead of just a CB. Anyone else catch that? Zimmer also called him a DB again during his Friday press conference when asked about what he is.

I think the idea of making Alexander a safety is strings being pulled at by people who don't like our current safeties.

He's the future nickel corner. Not a safety.

Like I said in the other thread....
