I was hoping for a Billings are Alexander, but I like adding another DE.

This guy is a prototypical 3-4 End. Are we switching to a mostly 3-4 base? I like it if so.

Didn't like him until I saw him play end vs. Iowa. Tells me, Edwards' injury may be a worse case situation.

A lot of what I have read suggests that he could move inside and play DT.

According to many teams, he needs anthroscopic surgery and will miss two months of time.

Can this guy be our interior rusher?

Yep. I think this is clear evidence that Edwards is a major doubt. Double boo!

Terrific athlete, great size and speed combo. Can play some LDE and kick inside and play under tackle.

One of those guys destined to be a much better pro with better talent around him.

I just hope this isnt a sign that MEJ isnt healthy.

Seems like we like to take raw athletes with big upside that arent as developed in the second round. Which makes sense.

How does drafting a DT suggest that Edwards is a major doubt?

@AdamSchefter

There are NFL teams who believe Raiders' 2nd-round pick, DE Jihad Ward, will need arthroscopic knee surgery that could sideline him 6 weeks.

Not the best bit of news to greet a prospect with. Hopefully nothing too big.

Ward is not a DT, at least not now. Watch him get bodied against Ohio State on the inside.

Yup. Reggie has taken Watson, Edwards, and now Ward in the second round. All three guys were somewhat raw but with the upside to be much good pros.

Cos I don't see Ward as a DT. See him more as a base end/3rd down interior rusher. Same as Edwards.

We needed more depth on the line regardless of MEJ's health status. I doubt MEJ played a factor if Reggie really liked a DL who seems versatile enough to play DE or UT.
