Putting on Teddy on IR if he's not medically cleared to play wouldn't be a problem. Keeping him on IR just to toll his contract would be. I can't imagine him being OK with that.

Assuming he isn't healthy he will be placed on the PUP which is automatically sitting out 6 weeks. My understanding is that once that is done the contract will toll. Once the 6 weeks are up, reevaluate the situation, activate him from the PUP to the 53 or place him on IR and evaluate week to week. Teams can designate at least one player to return from IR if I am not mistaken.

Someone is making some sense here.

I think we can all agree that if the team manipulates the situation to take advantage of the tolling clause, it would be a pretty bold move from an employee management perspective.

If Teddy is able to play sometime this year or is at least medically cleared, this situation could go a lot of different ways, but it's still likely he doesn't do so until after being cleared from the PUP. From that point there are too many undetermined variable that we don't know right now to make any proclamations on what the team should or shouldn't do imo.

So there again I don't understand the supposed saltiness that some say Teddy is going to feel, cause the NFL is still a bitness.

Would they really be manipulating the situation though? If Teddy isn't cleared to play he isn't cleared to play. If by manipulate you mean he is cleared to play and the Vikings don't allow it I see what you're saying. However, I'm not sure how that would be possible.

I never heard of a team putting a medically cleared healthy player on IR/PUP just to get the players contract tolled.

If Teddy was fully healthy week 1 hypothetically, I don't think the NFLPA would allow us to designate him as an injured player for our own benefit. He'd have to be placed on the 53 man roster.

That was what I meant, and yes it doesn't seem very possible/likely. Which is why it would be deserving of said saltiness, mostly for its stupidity.

Teddy has been busy working out with Stefon Diggs and Jarvis Landry, according to his social media posts

It appears that Teddy is having an amazing recovery! I think he's out to show something at training camp.
