Teddy Bridgewater has a way of making people believe in him, even if that means having faith he’ll return from a knee injury so catastrophic that trainer Eric Sugarman is credited with saving his leg.

Bridgewater’s situation pushes us to think about what it means to believe in someone. Does it require faith in that person beyond all reason? If so, then Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer’s feelings about Teddy Bridgewater could be compared to asking a Christian if there is a God and them replying, “Yes, absolutely. I hope.”

When Zimmer was questioned by reporters about Bridgewater’s progress last week, he paused, then said, “I love Teddy Bridgewater,” before giving his answer. Ask the philosopher Voltaire and he will say (or would say if he were alive) that if you love someone, you believe in them. But no matter the number of inquiries, the Vikings’ head coach has declined to say he’s sure Bridgewater will step back on the field someday. It’s clear Zimmer understands the severity of Bridgewater’s knee injury. He also knows Bridgewater’s story. And we believe in the things we know.

Translation of the above: Postulate: current medical evaluations cannot reliably project a return to play of TB, ergo, signum Keenum.

So, apparently "Benchwarmer" Bob Lurtsema say's that Teddy will play in the preseason. Seems asinine, but hey, it's out there. Maybe Bob is best friends with Sugarman, and has the inside scoop.

Looks like your typical knee brace with a sleeve over it.

I don't understand why QBs don't always play with a brace on their front knee. They don't look too restrictive, they rarely need to sprint, and that is the leg that is most at risk of getting injured. I hope he just keeps it.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is expected to discuss Bridgewater’s progress on Wednesday. Bridgewater, who hasn’t spoken to the media since his injury, is not expected Wednesday to break his silence.

An encouraging sign that he is out there throwing and participating in OTAs. I'm now thinking that we won't be able to "toll" his contract into 2018.

Spielman indicated that Bridgewater is not yet cleared to actually practice. He can drop back and throw (which is what was seen on the video) as part of his rehab, but that's it at this point.

He was included on the video because the media wouldn't see him today (as he's at a rehab appointment.

Yeah I was just thinking that he would need to be cleared for practice. Regardless, an encouraging sign given the extent of the injury.

We can't just play him in the preseason and then place him on the PUP list if he's physically healthy to play though, right?

If he is ready by then, does he compete for the starting gig or do we just hand the job to Sam Bradford?

I think the chance is rather slim that he'd be ready by then, but even if he were, I think the job is handed to Bradford...Bridgewater would need to beat him out pretty significantly as Bradford has so much more experience in a Shurmur offense than anyone else on the roster.

Zimmer: “He’s throwing the ball well. He’s got good velocity, accurate. He’s working his rear end off. It just makes you proud for him. He’s still got a long ways to go. But he’s progressing as well as anybody could expect, I would think.”
